unknown track..?

Post by arizonabeagle »

well guys
me and zach were out rabbit huntin yesterday evening at his grandpa's place
now this place brushes against some city of mesa power generator thing and theres a paved road about 20 yards long..i was walking that road on the side we could on while gunner was up ahead of me huntin around and such
well i walked througha part by the road full of gravel lookin to see if the coyotes had been through recently and this is what i found
Image

now i have no clue what this is, my first thought when i glanced at it was a big jack rabbit...but then i noticed it seemed to have toes. it was about 5 inches long. and about an inch deep in the gravel
i'm pretty familiar with the tracks and animals that habitate that particular peice of land and i've never seen anything like this..hell it may not be anything
but if you have an idea please say cuz i dont lol

thanks
Mike

Was there other tracks around? If so could you tell how far apart they were would give you size of the animal?

that was the only track like that

there were a few javelina tracks in same patch of gravel
i'd say it would took 5 or 6 javelina tracks to fill that one in

I'd say it isn't a track at all but where some critter scratched in the sand trying to get at something buried.

If you were by Palo Verde nuclear power plant I would have thought a mutant raccoon or something, but since you said it was Mesa, it's gotta be a Mexican Chupakabra!

I agree on the bear appears to be a bear and I know you said that there aint bear down there but I was just down on the Verde river kayaking to Horseshoe damn and found Bear tracks all along the way including at Horseshoe lake. That's not that far from mesa via the hills.

if theres only one track-- could be a clue , that it isnt a track :!:

its not a great bear track ,,if it is one - :)

make a fist with your thumb out n press it in the gravel and u could make a better bear track than that :)

a bears hind foot is a little bit v shaped - wider at the front and maybe twice as long as his front

like a coon or your own foot and your hand -
when the tailgate drops

i agree with what you say about bear tracks being more v shaped pete
thats a i kinda through that one out the window lol
i also agree it could be a fist pressed in the gravel, but givin the circumstances it just dont seem feasable that it could be a person..i sure as hell aint tryin to fool anyone lol
but i'm open to and consider all that you say guys say and i respect your opinions

i also understand when you say since i didnt find any other tracks like that nearby but the gravel patch is about 1 foot by 1.5 feet surrounded by pretty thick brush so that could be reason to why i didnt find anymore...just a though there

tman308, we were far east mesa down by queen creek...notihn but feilds and houses out there
if a bear were the case it would be interesting due to the refuse station orchards and cornfelilds nearby..could have drew him in i guess? i dont know boys i'll keep looking, hopefully we can get some rain in soon and i'll go a searchin for more..hard to see em in the dust you know

thank you again for all the input
