Alaska Grizzly, Moose

Headed to Alaska on Aug. 30 this year. Got back yesterday, Sept. 20. Had a terrific year again. My first client was hunting Grizzlies. I set up a spike camp on the Omar River and we saw 8 bears the first two days. My client had a bit of a problem actually hitting a bear but did finally shoot a real nice bear on the last hour of the last day. He also missed a wolf at 82 yards using my shooting sticks with the wolf standing still looking at us. I tracked the bear into the thick brush and fortunalely, it took me 45 minutes to find him. He had gone about 400 yards and after a difficult tracking job, he was laid up waiting for us. I walked up to 7 paces from him and found him looking right at me from behind a willow bush. I put two more rounds in him right away. My next client was hunting Moose. I don't like to do much calling but have found a much more effective way to get a bull to come in. Bulls like to rake the bushes during the rut and this seems to really make them mad if they hear another bull near them. I used the plastic lid off a 5 gallon bucket and it makes an exact sound that the horns make. I called up two bulls the first two days but one was only 50 inches and the other we never saw. On day three, I did some raking on a willow for about 30 minutes and all of a sudden, we heard a bull rake less then 100 yards away. He never grunted at all so we never heard him come in. Client did a great job and shot him at 75 yards. Outstanding bull at 60 inches wide and great brow tines with 5 on one side and 6 on the other. Sorry I don't have any pictures of these guys, my new camera got turned on somehow on the way up and I only got about 8 pictures before the battery went dead. I do have some pictures of some bears, etc and will post them when I get a chance.
