First Bobcat

Post by Gary Roberson »

Last Friday was out with my old female and two of her offspring. The old female started cold trailing on what I figured was a coon as my two pups feel right in there with her. They went about a half mile and jumped, then did not go far before I heard them tree. To my suprise, they had about a 3/4 grown kitten in a big live oak.
The old female had started cats in the past but my pups were hesitant to help her as it was not a coon. Now that they have one under their belt, I hope to get a little more cat production from them.

From West Central Texas. Sheep and goat country with lots of deer and turkey. Bobcats are starting to make a comeback here as folks abandon the sheep and goats and doing less predator control.
All hunting in dry land, no snow. My dogs are blue and trained to road hunt in front of my pickup. They will run coons and cats. Must have good noses as it forgets how to rain for long stretches down here.
Thanks,
Gary
