Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
I found this on Petfinders...please forward. Yes its the usual bullcrap about hunting dogs being discarded...hopefully we can find his owner or at least leave the impression to these dumshits that all hunting dogs are not abused.
More About GumboGumbo is such a sweet boy and just craves human companionship. He appears to have been someones hunting dog that was branded on each ear, and was discarded when he was no longer useful after he became blind in one eye. Part of the tips of his ears are also missing - possibly from being eaten by flys. He has a muscular frame and is still energetic - but not high strung. He has the cutest bay when he gets excited and gives gentle kisses. This boy has such character, you can't help but love him. Gumbo is approximately 7 years old, vaccinated, micro-chipped, neutered, crate trained, knows his household manners and is working on his housetraining. Gumbo is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

Thanks for posting this I just went to there site they have 10 hounds there right now. If anyone is missing a dog go check out this site see if they might have it. You can tell by the wording they use they are anti hunting and think we all treat our hounds like crap. This is a link to there site.

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
Oh yeah, I would like to say if anyone should choose to email these people please send a literate, factual letter. Most of these people are simply ignorant of the truth and it is up to us to educate them.
That being said I did email her, her story is that 'Gumbo' along with some other older hounds were dumped on the side of the road by a houndman
. She says that animal control could not gain enough evidence to prosecute. Now IF this story is true, what the hell are people like this thinking...I mean WTF? Anyone that does this kind of bullcrap is every bit as much our enemy as the animal rights freaks are. If you recognize this dog and the story is true then I hope you do the right thing...and yes that means making someone take some responsibility for their actions. Oh my God...did I say hold someone accountable for something...oh I forgot we don't do that in this country anymore.
Furthermore she says that 'she knows' hunters (houndsmen) kill their dogs, she says she knows this because a ' she found some hounds in the woods one day and when the hunter came to get them they got in a conversation in which he told her he killed his unwanted dogs' - now supposedly he brings them to her.
Now IF this story is true who in the hell in the flipping dumby that would say something like that? What we all do is our own private business and to say something like that is the epitome of a jackass.
Hello, earth to California...we are facing the very possible passage of a mandatory spay and neuter bill (which it seems like most people could give a shit about) and on the heels of that quite possibly an anti-hounding bill or ballot initiative. Who are the flipping dumby's that think its cool to say and do this kind of crap, in my opinion you are just as worthless as any animal rights freak and all of you deserve to be left on the side of the road...preferably face down in the ditch. You do nothing and I mean NOTHING to help the world of hounding all you do is make it harder for the rest of us that try and give a shit, be responsible for our actions (and the dogs we own and breed; good or not) and do the right thing once in a while.
Well thats my rant, sorry for the language but it'd be alot worse if you were in the same room with me

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
Liz all I have to say is I think your going alittle over the top, on your reaction.
I find it odd that you are blindly taking what this Anti hunter, person told you as truth, for all you know this person may be in a group that takes collars off of hounds out in the woods and then trys to find homes for them. How many times have you found your dog without their collars on them or two countys from where you were hunting. It happens all the time. Listening to a word this person has to say holds about the same value as a bag of dog crap.
Sure we know stuff happens, and sure people should use alittle discretion on what they do, who they say it to, and how they go about their business. THAT said who made you the word police on what to say and how to say it. I'm sure your trying to knock a head or two hoping people will think twice, but IMO all your going to get is people turning a deaf ear to what you have to say.
My kids like coming on this site and reading the hunting storys and looking at all the GREAT pictures and videos. Since you want people to be held accountable for their actions I would like you to apologize to my kids and everyone else for that matter, for having to read all the F bombs and other harsher adult wording you were dropping in your post.
Thank you ahead of time

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
I have a question! How many houndsmen go through the effort to freeze brand a hound, and feed him until he's seven years old, only to disgard them!?? Not too many that I know of !! Sounds like a load of B.S.

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
Yes your both right it may be a load of B.S.. thats why I said 'IF' her stories are true...I'm convinced that many of the hounds on PetFinder were possibly stolen. If you think I believe her 100%, well your sadly mistaken BUT I do know that people continue to shoot themselves (well all of us) in the foot by doing stupid crap that makes us all look bad. As far as the bad language...well sorry...but I have tried talking to people, explaining to people and asking them nicely but it all falls on deaf ears (guess thats why there were only 6 other houndsmen besides myself at the SB250 hearing). Sometimes my nice just runs out...
Oh yeah I censored my post...although I'm pretty sure that most kids hear just as bad or worse everyday on t.v.

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
My question would be then why jump down on everyone because of an "IF" I'll drop it thou.
Aside from that Thanks for recognizing that your were wrong.
As for California Dog owners and Houndsmen in general not caring about SB250, well thats hard to say. Not everyone can make Government Hearings. Many do call their Reps and Senators, I do. Maybe rather than jumping on everyone why not get on the phone to all the Smaller Hound Clubs, they are listed on the CHC web-site, and see if each Club could sent a Representitive or two with a membership list along with the CHC to attend hearings when needed.
I know at our last meeting of the Southern California Houndsmen Ass. meeting a couple of days ago it was brought up by a couple of us, that we as a California Houndsmen Club need to be more involved with the CHC in following whats going on with the CHC, and Voicing our opinions as a Club and working together, with CHC and hopefully other Clubs to protects our rights, and try to work more with the California DFG as a Whole Represented Group of Houndsmen across the State. Maybe the CHC need to try and get more of its Member Clubs involved in things they are working on with DFG or Legislative stuff. Getting Representation from the CHC's 18 seperate Member Clubs and their individual memberships could be Helpfull. All contact information to these Member Clubs are on the CHC web-site. Making calls asking personaly for help or more involvment to Unify us as a Group makes more since that belittleing people, and pissing everyone off.
Unless we as a Group come together and work together to fight for our Rights, and to work together with the DFG, to develop a trusting relationship with them. Things wont change. The sterieo type of Houndsmen being a bunch of Outlaws, will continue, and we'll lose more ground. The CHC being the Biggest Club who has a big membership, and a group of Member Clubs should be active in getting partisipation for its Members and Member Clubs, and their Members. And likewise the Member Clubs should IMO be reaching out to the CHC for more information as to whats going on and be more active in helping with whats going on in the State, and DFG as a whole too.

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
If you'll read what I said instead of reacting to it you'll see that I'm not jumping on everyone...just those that do stupid crap that hurts all us houndsmen in the long run. And I'm sure we all know for a fact that people do stupid crap, I have seen it first hand. As far as pissing people off, sometimes I think they need to get pissed off because sometimes that is the only way you can stir anyone into action.
There is a total lack of apathy with SB250 (not just from houndsmen but dog/cat people in general) and all the other animal laws pending in California. I see that every time I post information about them and only about 20 people look at it (meanwhile the post on the price of Copenhagen garners 2 pages). I see it when I hear from a Senator that the entire Senate only recieved 97 phone calls against SB250...

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
Well Like I said. IF your going to make a push for support, Calling the CHC, and its Member Clubs to ask for support is one of the better ways to start. On a Forum like this how many people are on here from California ? how many people in California that frequent the internet already know about the Bill ? IMO reach out and make personal phone calls and ask the Clubs and their memberships to remember to remain active in making calls to stop Bills or support Bills is a better way to go. BUT thats Just My Opinion.

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
Liz I thank you and the others for keeping us up to date on what is going on down there. I know for me I can not drive down and fight with being laid off. But what I do is call every person on the list I dont care if they are for my area or not. I also email them all when the info is posted. I know one thing that might help get more people to stand up and fight is if we could have a letter made up that we can change the wording just a little to each bill we wish to fight. Keep that posted up on here with the letter emails, phone numbers, address and names of the reps we need to contact. Dont know if this could be done or not but might help to get some of the ones that dont have the time to look it up get more involved in our fight.

Re: Do you know this (stolen?) dog???
Hey, here are some good places to look. The biggest groups fighting this is Petpac, if you go to their website you can sign up for emails and also find letters you can make your own, as well as contact information for the legislators. Another good one, go to the yahoo groups website and sign up for CAPLA, its a group for dog owners in California and there are always links to ready made letters. Another one, go to AKC's website and sign up for their legislative alerts, whatever we all think of AKC they do have a good legislative information system. Also check out Concerned Dog Owners of California and sign up for their mailings. You can also track bills through the State of Californias legislative website www.leginfo.ca.gov all of these websites are were I find the info I pass on, as I don't have time to research and write it all myself.
