WHO RUNS MULTIPLE BREEDS
How many of you run more than one breed and if so what breeds do you run? I am a plott man my self but my wife wanted some dogs of her own so I purchased her some blueticks it was that or a dang husky. So now we are in the process of using both breeds.

As far as hunting goes, I like my Walker dogs, but Craig likes ticked dogs, so we have one of each of those as well. But even he agrees that its about damn near impossibe to find anything better than a good Walker - or at least we haven't seen it yet. But they have their culls like the rest. I really don't prefer solid colored dogs and really dislike brindle (such a boring color, hated it in my other breeds) So Plotts, Redbones and B&T's are pretty much out of the question. I'd have a B&T over the other two. I like variety and flashy. So Walkers are pretty hard to beat there too. Nothin shine's like a clean Walker dogs coat
To me I gotta like what I feed, and looks are just as big a factor as any.
I've also had just about any type of show dog you can think of and still co own quite a few. Show dogs just aren't my thing anymore. Campaigning dogs and being a Top Junior Handler for years takes it out of ya...

i grew up with my great uncle running all black & tans so I am partial to those. my old nickname was Heinz 57 cuz I had just about every flavor of hound imaginable in my dog box. best hound I ever had was 1/2 b&t, 1/4 walker and 1/4 bluetick...old Hunter looked like a bluetick and kept me out many nights treeing coon and cats...he was the only hound I ever had that wouldn't eat all of his food every night....he would leave a little bit in the bottom just to bait in the possums then he would kill them when they came to eat his leftovers...he never ran them in the woods, just hunted them in the backyard when he was bored. the best bear hound i knew of was 1/2 black & tan and 1/2 black lab...the guy up here ran him on damage hunts and killed a ton of bears with him. guess what i am gettin at is if it is lookin up when i get to the tree it's a keeper.

ANY ONE THAT WILL HUNT
I have had B&T, Redticks, Blue Ticks, Walkers, Cross breeds and Curs. If they hunt they have a home. John

I own 1 B&T Female, she is papered, and I use her for breeding, but all of my others are crossed Walker/Plott and English. The crosses are so much better than the pure breed's, at least where I hunt, I have seen very few, 2 that I can remember that will walk a bear all day in the 100 degree heat, and do it day in and day out.

I run whatever works. Right now am using two plott females one is crocket blood and not quite sure what bloodlines the other is, she is off of some dogs that a friend has had for a while, a plott/pitt male and got a pup that is 1/4 plott 1/4 english 1/4 airedale and not quite sure what the other 1/4 is. His mother was an oops but her father was either a mtn. curr or a mtn. curr/lepord which was off of the mtn. curr. LOL pup is fuzzy like an airedale but a bit off collored. LOL
I have always been partial to hound/curr and hound/bull and airedale mixes.
