Thanks for sharing, do you actually catch the boar or just chase him around the country. The boar in the video acted like a walking bear, not to worried about the hounds.

The boar in the video stops to run because it can't after 4 hours of run.
The boar is exhausted

They are Ariegeois Hounds, have a cold-nose, they are smaller than Gascon because they are mountain hounds, but they are very similar.

Thanks for sharing the video, it looks like great fun. My wife has a niece that married a Frenchman and we spent a few days over in Paris during the Christmas holidays a few years back. Her husband told me they have friends that run the boars over there and invited me down, but truth is I don't know when I'll ever be back over to France...
We did, however, do a little touring and I took these photos at one of the last working stage hunting kennels.........you've probably been there?

Good to hear the hounds working and enjoyed the video. I sent you a pm. I am very keen to come and have a look at you hounds and how you hunt them if it is ok by you and the guys you hunt with. Hope to hear back from you.

Re: French Video, wild boar hunt Contest
Hey FH, I havent heard from you. I am more than keen to come and have a look at ur hounds and hopefully join in for a hunt as a spectator. I am off to Australia to hunt over the hounds for a month in August but will be back in Holland in september. I am not sure if you have a season for hunting but I would give one of my legs to find some hound hunters in Europe who would let me come along for a run.
Re: French Video, wild boar hunt Contest
I enjoyed it. and the other videos as well. those hounds do appear to be entirely driven by scent. Which breed do you feel has more of a Game mindedness to them? Thank you again for sharing your videos.

FH, what is going on? Can I come for a hunt? If not, do you know any other keen houndsmen in europe who would have an Aussie hound hunter along for a look see?

Hi SambarHound, the hunting season is finished, it would be best that I give you dates of hunting contest, you can follow interesting hunts, yet competitions are finished, it was not until 2010

Re: French Video, wild boar hunt Contest
Thanks for the reply FH. I havent been on here for a while and I was in Australia for a bit longer than I had planned. I am as keen as mustard to come and have a run with you guys. Just name the time and place.
It was fantastic being back home and getting some hunting in. The dogs were really going well. There were a few pups that were really showing some potential. All good for next season!!! The boys are getting two litters over the summer so hopefully there will be a few more good ones in the making.
What part of France are you in?
Maybe better to send it to my hotmail account.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
