Shane has known Steve for quit a while and I know for a fact that if Shane ask Steve, and the right cross was made, Steve would of been more than happy to let Shane use him has reference. Whether that happened or not I have no idea. But Shane's litter wasn't the topic here Marshal. Has far has that Weems stuff you throwing out Marshal, you don't have a clue, again. Those dogs proudly wear the Ursus name, not Weems. The dog your probably referring to went back to some of the same stuff the Ursus Line started with long ago. Yes, much of the stuff that started the Ursus Line came from Everett Weems. But the dog your referring to was only half from the Weems kennel, the other half was from the Burton Kennel. But all the offspring now wear the Ursus or White Pine Kennel names. All that were involved with that cross are more than happy to give credit and show respect to those great men that produced those dogs. But the cross that they are responsible for, they take responsibility for proudly. Both for the good and the bad that may be produced. But I assure you, the bad stuff they produced won't be something passed on by them. It will be from others that use their name. That's not a form of respect I've ever heard of. Taking responsibility for your own actions, and giving credit for your successes to those that made it possible is showing respect.

plottdawgs, the greatest asset of the Cascade dogs was their speed. Many plotts have the grit, nose and all other things they had. But when Dee put down his dogs, you definitely had your hands full keeping up with them. Of course they did have some weaknesses, but those could be over looked by their astonishing desire to catch critters, fast. It was a great Line and looking back I'm amazed more didn't pick up on it. I got a couple of really good Cascade dogs from Dee, but they were hard to get. At that point in his life there were two kinds of Cascade dogs. His personal breeding and the others. His personal dogs were very expensive and extremely hard to get from him. Back in those days I just couldn't afford to pursue the Line.

That's kinda why I want another cascade bred dog cause their fast in the woods but I also want one cause I liked how mine was and cause of the bloodline. The one I had was extremely fast and very good in the woods. Im kinda surprised that this line really ain't out there anymore and if it is its kinda watered down. It makes me wish that I would of kept a pup from the male I had. I just don't really think Im meant to get another cascade bred dog cause I've been search for a few years now with no luck what so ever. Everyone had been telling me this line of hound is no long out there and if some are there really watered down.

plottdawgs - dennis is right on about dee's dogs. one of the biggest reasons for the line disappearing IMO is that not many people trusted dee's papers. Any serious breeder/dogman isn't going to breed to a dog that has uncertain ancestory. the most famous controversy of course was Timber.

Plottdawgs good luck on your pursuit for a cascade dog or atleast one that you would like to feed.
As for breeeding i only claim that there is a foundation of Ursus / Nabek ( and worthington ) . I would figure that anything these dogs do would be a result genes ( result from breeding ) and exposure ( result from my getting them in the woods ) .
No I never consulted Steve Mohr about the cross . I made this cross becouse of what I liked in the dogs from seeing them on game and seeing in them what I believe to be the hardest traits to find in a beardog .
All pups are spoken for . Thank you all for all the interest i could have sold 20 if I had them .

plottdawgs; the dogs that were the real conflict with pedigrees with Dee were Timber, Boulder and one female. I can look up her name if you need it, but keep watching the Plottworld site for a huge amount of info on this I'm putting together. I have every post and bit of info on it ever posted on all the sites to put together. It will probably be later this year, to busy hunt'n and working now. There were originally 4 dogs that theoretically wore the SM tattoo. But have never found any contributions made by the forth that would make it important.

I did not sell any of these pups I have placed these pups in homes that they will be hunted hard and culled ruthless more than I would if they do not make a better than average dog.

Plottdawgs, I don't know if you contacted him but Gene White is another person that you may want to get a hold of. He hunted with Dee some and had dogs out of his stuff. One of his best ever was a Buckskin female Niece of Timber out of Boulder.

Also I am sure that Rodney Burris will be able to direct you to someone that might have Cascade decendants if he does not. Another place that you can look is in an APA brindle book, real plott guys advertise there more than any other place. I would imagine that they have no clues as to what the Plottworld is, and are not members of the Smithdeal Society. They are actually out putting bears in trees with there plotts.

As for the rumors of the Timber being out of so and so's dogs, that rumor is most pushed by one guy and people associated with him. And when the dog was alive that individual didn't want to push the subject himself, but now wants to presents all the circumstantial evidence in the world. If he was so sure why didn't he pursue it 30 years ago when the dog was alive and could be easily prooven?
