Cameron Blueticks

Is anyone running straight cameron blueticks on bear? I know they are great cat dogs. If so where did they come from and how do they compare with the other breeds out there.

My main female (who just got started on bear this year and is 5yrs old) has already learned how to strike a bear and rigs awesome. She outruns a lot of my buddies walkers and she isnt the fastest thing on 4 legs but I hear a lot of them are. She definetly has the nose for it as it seems she just keeps getting better and better everytime we let her go. She is usually the second to last or last one out it seems like. I am very proud of this dog coming from a bad home and I got her from a shelter, she is easy to handle, usually comes when she is called pretty good but not all the time. She gets pissed when my buddy lets his badass walker female go first and she see her running around. I usually cover her eyes when she see Ellen go because she will flip out because she wants to go. I think they have some sort of competition going, but Ellen is better thats for sure she has been doing it a lot longer and is just a good dog. But they definetly have what it takes, she can run up to about 5-8 miles a day and still be ready to go the next day. She ALWAYS wants to go hunting no matter what, good feet on em too, usually dont get too sore

I have a couple of Camerons. I have an eight year old female that is by far the best Cameron I have owned. She’s got the cold nose, grit, and intelligence. The only thing I have seen in the ones I have owned is on a jumped bear they don’t pick their head up and drive it. They bob up and down which causes them to lose a step or two. You would never see it in a short race, but if it stretches out you can tell. They are also independent; they don’t go just because everything else is. They like to do it for themselves. So speed is the only thing I see. Again that’s only on long races. JMO.

Yeup, it seems like my female is always one of the last ones out because most of our races are long. My buddies walker is also one of the last ones out too. They definetly dont like to be the last one out of the box, they like to do their own thing for sure if they can.

Did either of you get a Crazy Cascade bluetick I just bought a pup from them and wanted to know if they make good bear dogs.

Nope I believe mine is from Jim's but not 100% sure, got her from a shelter, its unmistakenable that she's a Cameron though. I thought about getting one from them and still may but Im going to be going through Jim and another guy

I have a couple cameron dogs right now and they are both very good cat dogs but on bear they have a tuffer time than what they should and seem to be a little intimidaded by a bear so i hope this pup I bought will be a bear dog as well as a cat dog.

I had a great little Cameron male that died this past winter. He had alot of desire and grit but saw the same thing Hi Tech did on longer races. He would not quit until he couldn't go anymore but he could have picked his head up and covered ground a little faster. He was a good bear dog and lion dog.

Harlan Vincent on here, has a 4 year old male. He says that it is not the coldest nosed hound he has ever seen, however if that cameron is turned out - it is a caught bear. No money could buy him. Maybe he will chime in on this.

The Crazy Cascasde Blueticks are lock-down bear dogs. They have the speed, nose and grit to put them in trees. They fight and pull fur on the bad bears bayed on the ground.

Do you have a Crazy Cascade Cameron? I was thinking about putting a deposit down on one but am also looking to go to Jim instead because of price, they are both about the same distance for me if I was to drive, just cant decide which one I want, both seem to produce top dogs.

Yes, I have a Crazy Cascasde Bluetick. I've been so impressed with him that I am getting another from a litter this year. I know other guys that are running them, also, and consistently catching game (bear, lion and cat). They've got great noses, toughness and drive. They are all business when you put 'em in the box or drop 'em on a track. I've witnessed Steve's dogs in action. He's got an entire pack of lead dogs, meaning every single one of them can get it done on their own. The pack doesn't rely on one or two dogs to do the majority of the work, which is often the case in hound packs. He trains and hunts them a lot individually and in pairs, so they become independent and not just followers of the pack. I know Steve's got some crosses coming up soon that will be dynamite. They're gonna be some lookers, too, with long ears and big naugins. They do well on anything you train them to hunt. They've got the "good stuff" in them and with proper training you can really bring it out and have an exceptional game getter.

My 4 month old female I just got from Steve is already attacking the trap with a coon twice her size in it. Steve is also very good to do business with and whatever the case might be he will make it right with you, I cant say enough good things about that guy.
