Simmons scope wasted by 243

Post by LBell »

Has any body had problems with the internal lens going out of simmons scopes? My wife wants to try hunting deer, so i got her a .243 and a mid line 3 by 9 by 50 simmons, not a cheepy but not top of the line either. She has shot the gun five times probly about a box worth of shells, and the gun is stored in the case in my gun room. I am not a simmons fan but it's what I got her, and it seems stupid for such a small gun could rock a min grade scope like that??

I have a 30-6 with a Simmons Aetec scope 4x12 also my 270 has one same size and my wifes 243 has a Simmons Aetec 3x9. I would be willing to bet the three guns have shot 1000+ rounds out of them with out any trouble. I just put a Simmons Aetec 4x12 on my 300 win mag and started using it shot maybe 3 boxes from it with no trouble. I would send it in might just be a bad one? I love all of my Simmons scope's but I only buy the Aetec model?

Bought a 270wsm, It had a simmons mounted on it. Only lasted 2 season, 3rd season I cant even hit the paper at 100yards. I have metal case that I transport my guns from NM to WI so go figure! Wife pick up a BSA Panther Riflescopes hope this does better. I am a Leupold fan, have 2 mounted on different rifles and really like them. Never had to adj them either. Its going on 5years on my 300mag bar browning, I put maybe 1000 rounds thr it. and from the day I had it mounted its been on. NO ADJUSTMENTS MADE. pick it up and hit the target at 100, 225 and 500 yards. If this BSA fails this year I will pick up another Leupold.

I had two Simmons. The first one done exactly what you describe. Thinking it was a fluck I bought another. I didn't even make it to hunting season with it. I took it off and threw it into the woods went straight to the gun store and bought a Carl Zeiss. Now all my scoped guns are topped with a Zeiss. They are the hardest scope that I've found to knock off. I fell off a frozen bluff once ontop of mine. It had a dent in it and I killed a 4 point with it that same day. Later it started loosing it's hydrogen filler and started fogging up. I sent it back with a letter stating what happened expecting to pay full well for repair and they replaced it with a brand new one. I learned that I can sacrifice alittle and buy 1 higher quality scope for a higher price or spend the same amount on two scopes later on.
