I have sometimes feed my hounds bear meat after field dressing the bear, and I have feed them bobcat meat before. I have never had a hound just go to eating on the fresh carcass though.

yea, its odd, but i think some of it mybe my fault because last year i killed a few bobcats and brought the meat back for the dogs, and ever since he has started this weird wolf act.

I have seen beagles eat the hare or cottontail after being shot. Can't see where bear hounds would be any different unless trained not to. JMO

I have had two dogs that will do that... Both female blueticks.. I am sure it is just a coincidence... but they are the only two I have seen do it...

I dont think its all that strange, most of my dogs will do the same thing. It started with feral cats after the killed them. Dont bother me a bit though. Hell it just gives them that much more reason to catch them in my opinion. Most hounds Ive been around are pretty food oriantated. Do your dogs eat there feed fast or slow? Mine eat like pigs! Feed one go to the next and the other ones done wantin more.

when we kill an elk, lion or bear etc, we bring the carcass back and throw a chunk in their pin and they will feast on it till gone, they love lion, but I have never seen any just tare into one and eat it.

I've seen dogs do that on coons just start eating after it is dead. I know of a guy up this way that feeds his dogs the cat after they caught it. I think he thinks it makes them catch it better because they are looking for a meal ??
