How many top dogs
Re: How many top dogs
well yaak I guess the answer to that is.......I don't really know. I don't name myself after someone elses dog.....I just give my self the name because its what I prefer to hunt. I've never changed the name....had it for alot of years. So yaak since you want to start a new topic....how'd you come up with yaak? I didn't earn anything....I'm certainly not as famous or good as some on this forum. I don't know the guy on the taxidermy site. I really don't care how many catmans are out there
Does that answer everyones question

Re: How many top dogs
I decided on Yaak since Catman was taken. Seems to me just cause a guy likes to hunt cats wouldn't instantly make him a Catman. Heck I like to hunt leopards, but since Iv'e only killed a couple I don't feel qualified to call myself the Leopard Man. Some have called me The Catman, I really didn't name myself, but others in fact did so. I just think you should be willing to give up the title if someone were to prove themself more qualified.
Re: How many top dogs
You remind me of someone on here....oh yea I know who it is
Tell you what...you come and go huntin with me and show me up....I will gladly give up my non'earned...non'valuable name. So I guess you are profiicient in yaak hunting? As you seem to think a name means there's some merit in why its there.
Thanks for the response fellers. Pretty neat to see how few real hounds fall into our lives. And it seems to me as though even the best seem to do just a bit better at one type of game or another. I know there are a few that excel at any, but it just seems that every hound has a little different desire when it comes to the type of game.

Re: How many top dogs
If that comment was directed at me Dick, I gave that ol' Ike dog his name after my grandpa. Ike came out of a Missouri/Texas cross and therefore I thought the name fit. Then like Yaak, the only reason I took Ike as a name was because Catman and Bearman were already taken.....Catman wrote:....I don't really know. I don't name myself after someone elses dog.....
And my Ike dog was a no named, tit weened pup when I bought him, just like every other dog I ever hunted.........
My grandfather worked as a blacksmith and trained horses, farmed, and busted his ass until he got too old. So I guess you can see why I slam dunk you every time yoiu run ol' Ike down now huh? What's your granfather's name and next time you slam Ike I'll give it back a dozen fold..........

Re: How many top dogs
I think we should field some questions from the panel. This will help determine if one of us is a poser or just a Catboy. I will give you a couple of tips on how to put some points up on the board. If you bath yourself more than once a day or bottle feed the orphaned kittens at the shelter your qualifications would appear, at first to exceed mine. You should be careful who you invite to show you up. Despite what you may think there is someone out ther that caught more cats than you last year and maybe someone will catch more than you this coming year. The problem with calling someone out is you run the risk of looking silly. Don't take any of this personal as I am only trying to have a little fun here. If someone gets exposed as a Cat person or just a Cat fancier it won't be my fault.
Re: How many top dogs
Okay for the panel.......I never have disclosed the number of cats I caught last year. I never brag on myself or my dogs. I do get lucky and catch some game once in awhile. My dogs are just that....dogs. They get hunted on weekends sometimes and weekdays occasionally. I will be very first to tell "the panel" that I did not come by this name because I'm a legend on cat hunting....I dubbed myself this name because I like to hunt cats....that simple. You are welcome to come and hunt with me anytime yaak as I don't ever figure someone makes me look silly when they have better dogs than mine....so the offer still stands for you to come hunting.
And for Mr. Ingram....I never said anything about your name or where it came from.....so if your concience has a little problem with your name on here.....its not my problem..its yours.
And if you keep telling folks that I went and let your hunter kill the same lion you treed for him a day or two sooner...I'll post pictures and we'll let the panel decide
I don't want another p.m. from someone saying that deal?
And for the panel.....lets hear about some more good hounds, and what they did that made them stand out.

Hey Dick,
Don't try to hide the truth dude... I got friends out there ya know!!
Your nickname out there is "Catman" because you get so much freakin' tail...
Those poor women in the Basin just don't know how to say no to those suave smooth lines of yours in the bars...
I heard you had to go with "Catman" because BuddyW wouldn't let you use your REAL handle on this site... P***yman!! So you went with Catman instead.
Those locals say your nickname has nothing to do with lions.... but everything to do with tail. How would it be? I heard the boys say your bullet proof pickup line is:
"Hey baby, let's go to my place and do the things I'm gonna tell everyone we did anyway." Does that really work, Pu... uh Catman?

Re: How many top dogs
I had to go back to the beginning of this and check for sure...I thought the subject was "too many top dogs". LOL!
Re: How many top dogs
Yaak,
Well okay dude I gotta be completely honest.....some of what dawg said is true, and some is not, but the name I really wanted to go by on here was Canadian Bear Hunter, but I have to admit I haven't been to Canada bear hunting and when I typed in the name it said: sorry the name you have submitted is the property of ingram wildlife collection
so I settled for this name.....it doesn't fit my character at all, but hey it got you wondering right? Yup sometimes the names we use don't fit the person on the keyboard

I don't know who or what you're talking about Dick, but I don't remember ever saying anything like that to anyone. I really do hope that you enjoyed that ride along story teller, cause I never did like a liar Dick......Catman wrote:And if you keep telling folks that I went and let your hunter kill the same lion you treed for him a day or two sooner...I'll post pictures and we'll let the panel decide![]()
Short story:
The hunter calls my outfitter several times during the season crying cause the other guys he's hunted with didn't catch him a tom. Outfitter tells him how much and then he goes away. Next trip or two, outfitter breaks down and asks me if I'll hunt him for a day and kill fee which is not a good way to do business. I tell Outfitter I'm OK if he comes along...
Hunt first day and had a tom and bitch cross the road, catch the tom. Hunter wants to know how big, tell him a young up and coming tom minus two toes and part of an ear. Shoot him if you want, don't if you don't, but if you do the kill fee applies.
Hunt again the following day on the dirt, cut and strike three lion tracks only one of which was a tom. Old track did not send dogs. Drop hunter off and see him tomorrow, then get a call later that evening saying that he's ran out of money and gonna go back home and make some more. I told him sure thing, but it was snowing and the odds of killing were really high if he stuck around. Hadn't been paid for the day trips yet, told him that I'd be over there at daylight to pick up money........
Come morning show up and hunter is gone, call him on the cell phone--where is the money? I left it at the gas station and left for home, give you a call in the coming days he said...............
That was Friday, DWR called me Saturday stating that he thought that hunter had gone home. He also said that Dick Bess had a lion to check in for that hunter.....so what's the deal? Told him I didn't know, guess the guy was a big liar and not man enough to just say I found somebody to hunt me cheaper on fresh snow................
Outfitter makes the comment that that hunter sure played all the hounddoggers around here for everything he could. I agreed. This guy brought his buddies with hounds from out of state, no big tom, then hunted with somebody on the Wasatch Front he claimed, no big tom, then hunted with us for two days and finally Dick Bess.
I think I'm gonna start doing a little background check on people before I let them in my truck--cause dammit I hate to get done that way, to have a man look me in the eye and lie his ass off.
Post any pictures you want Dick. All I can say is I'm glad that you had to skin a lion for that liar rather than me.

Re: How many top dogs
Well thats not the story I got, but I don't know the guy, and don't really care other than this is not the lion you two treed for him. As for the record I didn't check the lion in.....I didn't see the guy after that day, haven't seen him since. And Jeremy didn't hunt with me that day. He was busy.
