What about concrete? Not trying to start the age old debate and frankly dirt pens is not an option for me due to the damp environment I live in but has anyone expierienced foot problems since changing over to concrete? I seem to be having ALOT of problems this year since changing to concrete pens and dont believe this to be the problem but am trying to cover all bases.

lives in the city part time and the concrete sidewalks do wonders to toughen his feet. However, some dogs have concrete allergies. Sealing the concrete on kennel floors can help. Also, sometimes the cleaning chemicals used on concrete kennel floors can cause problems, either by destroying the seal on the concrete or by irritating the pads directly. Pine cleaners frequently cause problems. Try changing cleaners to something not too strongly scented==I use dilute bleach. Clear vinegar is also well-tolerated and cheap. But, whatever you are using, just try switching brands--it may help.
