Contents of a lion huntin pack
What do yall keep your in packs. I been runnin for a few years and it seems i always forget somethin. Sometimes its extra gloves or my radio. What are your essentials. The one thing I never forget is road flares. These are the best fire starters i have found. They have a continueous flame for fifteen minutes. Also what do you wear to keep warm and what works best.

Re: Contents of a lion huntin pack
A flashlight and some kind of fire starter are a must for a hunting pack. Flashlight mainly for when you catch critters in holes caves, holes. I always cary lighters in my pack or saddle bags, never know when you not gonna make it home.
A me a buddy got caught in a hell of a rain/hail storm elk hunting in september. Rain about 3 in in an hour and the canyon we were in was running so fast we couldnt cross it so we were stuck for a spell. I got soaked to the bone and was freezn my a$$ off. My had buddy a 99 cent plastic walmart pancho he gave me. Put that on, it trapped my body heat and made a huge differance. I always carry one of them or a space blankit ever since.

Because I hunt alone and in remote areas, I try to carry what I'd need to survive a night out in the dead of winter.
Eberlestock pack with rifle,
extensive first aid kit for me and the dogs,
rain jacket and pants,
extra socks, gloves, touque, polypro top / bottoms
knife, space blanket, flashlight, headlamp,
batteries, steel, tinder, lighter, heavy twine,
siltarp, energy bars, water purification tabs,
flares x 3, compass, vhf radio, gatoraide,
dog leashes / tracking stuff, camera, bino's.
Looking into a PLB like SPOT or an ACR beacon.
Friggin pack weighs......

You better invest in a mule for all that spoke
Headlamp, camera, compass, lighter, sh!t tickets & spare batteries for the astro
Usually a crumbled granola bar or two at the bottom of the pack, I always eat before I leave and on the way in. Lots of water here, never an issue.
