Scent bloker?

Post by LBell »

Was just pulling the gear out for the fall and had a thought. Could you spary scent blocker type products over a set before placeing lure to totaly cover all scent you might be leaving? I have only trapped one season with the traps that belonged to my grandpa, and I suck at it, but it's fun and it gives me a bit to do in Oct, Nov, when dog season is shut down. What yall think?

I say its worth a try. Worst case senero is that it didnt work. If you are after k9s I would think they would be able to tell something wasnt right but I would say go for it who knows.

I trapped for several years, I used a piece of carpet or vinyl to put my knees on, wore rubber boots and wore gloves when I set traps, took glove off to put in lure.

caught coyotes for the running pens..

dipped my traps

go to Trapperman .com lot of info there,
be glad to answer any questions.

I just found a guy who runs a little trappers trading post, he says he has it all. The problem is the only way to get anything was to order it before so I was limited in what I have and used it sparingly, not a good practice I know but I thought if I eliminated all other foriegn smells a litle lure would go further. Now I'll have more to worrk with, but i'll still give it a try anything to get an edge right. Thanks for the replies Lance.

dig your hole place your trap and when you are through take a spray bottle with RED fox urine and spray a mist all around the trap setting, that is all you need. I don't care if u are soaked in blocker a yote or dog can smell you,so use red fox and he will think a fox buried something there. buy the Charles Dobbins book on trapping and that is all you will ever need.
