New Mexico???

Post by lionhunterdaves »

I have been to new mexico hunting bears qiute a few times, mostly by pie town and datil, and a couple of times down by reserve. I was going to go again this weekend but didn't want to travel so far, both places are five to six hours from where I live. I live in sw colorado, any suggestions on a good place to go that is closer would be appreciated.

Go to Cuba everybody else does. LOL!

I hope you don't mind traffic jams and such it is unbeleivable the amount of dog trucks you will see. I gave up bear hunting when Colorado in their infinite wisdom said no to hounds on bear.Your neighbor Van usually has a big camp down there and it is sort of like Grand Central Station for bear hunters I have heard.

Thanks a lot guys. But, If it's that busy in cuba I will pass and keep going where I normally go. The last time I was in datil we didn't see another houndsmen and chased plenty of bears. But do appreciate the input. And talking about my neighbor, I think he is down their right now.

If its not to far and you want to see a new state go to Arizona. We got just as much or more bear than New mexico and there is relatively low amount of hunters. You can check out the white mountains which are probaly right at around 6 hours from southern Colorado. Just be careful of the wolves.

I have hunted a little on the white mountains by springerville and yes there were a ton of hunters. Thanks for the input, I think we are going to head back to datil, and see how much damage we can do this weekend.

Where do all of you guys go because I have a spot down near alpine about 45 minutes down a nasty rocky trail and have never seen another soul down it just tons of bear and wolf tracks. If you go just outside of any of the cities in the whites it is defintely crowded but not if you know where to go.
