New kid from Nor Cal
Hey my name is Eric. I currently go to college in Nebraska but live in Northern California during the summer months and I fly back to Mendocino county during black bear hunting season. I have been hunting deer, pheasants and other small game since I was a young boy. For the last five years I have always flown back to Mendocino county to go black bear hunting my dad but the hunting had always been by spot and stock methods using predator calls. Earlier this year my dad decided it was time to open our horizons and start hunting black bear with hounds and purchased a full grown really to hunt plott / Walker hound.

Welcome aboard Medocino Kid,
I wish you the best of luck on your new adventures with your dad, it will be quite fun...
It really never dawn'd on me until i started running my hounds that i wouldn't be shooting a bear out of a tree right away...
The reason being is, if I fill my tag then my hounds are done for the season...
Something that non-houndsmen aren't really aware of. I now carry a camera instead of a rifle, lol go figure?

You make a great point yeager. I never thought about it like that but yeah if I want to keep running my hound then I might just have to take a couple of pictures with the old camera instead of filling my tag. Thanks for pointer
