is a 45 colt salty enough for killing lions out of the tree any advice would be greatley apreciated

Shot a couple long tails with mine, it works fine. I load 250 or 300 gr hornady XTP, great bullet for 45 colt

Out here in Colorado they require a minimum of 500lbs at the muzzle. That kind of restricts you to the big hand guns, i.e 38,s, 45autos, and some 357 loads are not lawfully adequate. Although in my opinion I think the .22 mag. is plenty. I like a gun that won't blast a lion out of the tree on the dogs but let it expire in the branches then fall out when its ready. But since this is not an ideal world I tote a 30-30 TC Contender and leash the dogs out of the way. So anyways be sure to check your state regs.
