When You Think Of Big Game Hunting with Hounds...
Re: When You Think Of Big Game Hunting with Hounds...
I like the replies I'm getting! I'm looking into the suggestions from everyone and then going from there. So keep'm coming! I'm open to any ideas on what you would like to read in such an article also.

I say write a piece on Jeff Allen. I'm pretty sure his hounds tree more lions for the kill than anyone else's in the US at this time.Dads dogboy wrote:Nite timer, your should PM Mike Leonard or Liontracker for their advise on whom would make a great story!
As for the lack of participation from top lion men, I consider this: They are almost as aloof as the lions they catch. They are generally quiet, humble, avoid confrontation and are pretty much loners. I know several that visit this site, but not a one will ever make one post.
Ike is pretty close here:
What purpose would it serve for a true Legend to be crapped on by a wanna be?Ike wrote:It's one hell of a lot easier to NOT engage by saying that you are too busy being a "REAL HUNTER" than it is to take the criticism that this gang dishes out.
...and it would happen, welcome to the internet...you know... free speach and all!LOL

I figured you would probably take offense since you are exactly who I was thinking of when I said people who sit around at a computer all day bragging.Ike wrote:ol' Ike took offense to those comments above.
Don't think of Liontracker or Mike Leonard when I think of internet hunters. You were at the top of the list so kind of funny you would take offense.
Now I'll go so you can make 10 more posts telling us all how great you and your dogs are. Sorry you took offense to the comment. Oh wait, no I'm not.
Just call it as I see it.

Say, you ain't the same JimmyD out of Kansas that run off with my ex-wife Joy are ya?

Randy is still plugging away trying to get out of third grade. Nice of ya to ask.
You best hide Joy out somewhere, I hear tell the Crabman is looking for you both.
Maybe they should write that story on the magazine about Karma. That would make a good story: houndsman Karma!!

Hell sakes earl, I guess that you must be talking about yourself when you claimed "REAL HUNTERS" don't have time to post on these boards, cause looking back through your posts you haven't contributed since October 21, 2008. You must have been doing tons and chit loads of hunting huh?
Personally Laura, I'd like to see you do an article on Earl Hickey since he's been too busy to post for nearly a year. I'll just bet that he's killed and ran down lots and lots of stuff that he can share with you........
You'll probably be able to write a book about him rather than a short article!
It kinda looks like Earl Hickey aka has had time to make plenty of posts against ol' Ike but I don't see one single post that you've made that has been directed at helping anybody out?

I have never claimed to be anything on this website. Not that I'd be able to get a word in between all your boasts and claims. I heard you had gone one step further, after naming your dog pack. I heard you asked everyone to now call you Sliced Bread, claiming you are "the best thing since sliced bread."
My kid used to always play this song and it was called something like 57 Channels and Nothin' On.
Maybe she could write a story about the modern day internet hunter and call it:
2126 Posts and Nothin' Treed (the legend of Sliced Bread)

"CecilJ" - This cat has been around the block. All the experiences are there. You know "the good, the bad and the ugly" experiences. He had alot of insight and things to say but danged if we could figure out what he was really getting at about half the time. It would be a big help if somebody could relay those messages to us. For history purposes only. I'm certain he would enjoy your company and interest. You won't owe us anything for the finders fee, a little interpretation is all we're after here at the BGHF. You will need to just take a recorder. We haven't heard from him for sometime now, so according to above you know what that means, hes back hard at it and has new experiences to share! Let him know we miss him, if you find him out somewhere.

Nah, I think hes still around? Can't be for sure though. If my memory serves me correct his computer just fail victim to his "pollandering" (CecilJ word) ways! Somebody was in touch with him? Can't imagine what went with that computer?
Hes my vote! & Liontracker has seconded it. Any more want to second that?
We may have an official and serious nomination bid here?

Re: When You Think Of Big Game Hunting with Hounds...
This circle gets vicious! Id write an article about the competition between houndsman. Looks like there would be plenty to write about. Its sad but true. Ive been up in northern californa hunting bears a bunch of times and its funny how when your rigging down the moutain road and another rig comes from the opposite direction. The stares and cold looks given by each truck that goes by remind me of some inner city rival gang sizing eachother up. Or when somone does stop, the strange conversation that takes place between the two trucks. Both sides seem to have questions for the other but nither seems to have any answers. I have hunted with different groups before and the exchanges between people met in the moutains is always the same, Cold and suspicious. There will be rivalrys between all sportsman of every kind but I have noticed the sportsmanship between houndsman in the field is almost nonexistiant. Hog hunters are no different. There is always a standout guy or group and the jealousy over permission rights or the success rate somone might have always draws fire from people who either want what you have or want you to fail.

Re: When You Think Of Big Game Hunting with Hounds...
He might want to whip me for writing this but when I think of a big game houndsman, I think of Bill W from Idaho. I aint sayin he is the best cause I dont know shit but I know he tries and he catches game and does it with class.
