Re: tracker maxima
I use one most of the time and like it. If you hunt on foot much it will save alot of weight and space. I get pretty decent range out of mine.

Re: tracker maxima
Bought one this spring and have used it all summer. This unit is very light weight and sometimes forget I'm even carrying it. It gets fairly good range, but I think you get a little more bounce than with other units. Used it for about three months before replacing the batteries.

Yeh, 10-4 on the bounce. What I found, is that if you hold it close to your body, and rotate in a circle your body will block most of the bounce signals and reception will be more accurate.

Re: tracker maxima
I have ben using one for about the 5 years. They work great. only problem i have found is it is harder to tell direction than with a larger yagi antenae. The closer they get the harder it is to tell. Never ben a big issue but has caused me to go the wrong way a time or two. Same issue with bounce

Re: tracker maxima
Yea Liontracker, your right about holding it close and rotating, it does cut out alot of the bounce and direction guesswork.

Re: tracker maxima
I use both the garmin and maxima, and will continue to use both until the garmin becomes more reliable. While using both I use the maxima for rough locating and the garmin for precision locating.

Re: tracker maxima
I have the maxima complete but, had the regular maxima for some time. I have a yogi that I attach to mine for "fine tuning" my dogs location. I don't get much more distance but, I can get a more accurate location with it. As far as everything else you will indeed forget you have it and more than once I've not snapped the buckle good and had to back track and find the little sucker. If you snap the buckle good it will hold. Not a manufacturer mistake. I have alot of problems around cell towers but, other than that I can find a dog pretty darn good with alittle triangulation.

Re: tracker maxima
Didn't they improve the bounce with the maxima complete? I think they added an internal range switch.

I'm selling my Tracker Maxima. It comes with 2 collars but the antennas are short from hogs grabbing them. I havent replaced them before but it looks pretty easy to do.
Re: tracker maxima
I was in the Tracker shop in Meridian about a year ago. They told me they were going to put another digit after the decemal point to allow you to fine tune the unit a little better.
Is that the Tracker Complete you guys are talking about?
