Sure Stop Barker Breaker?

Post by yeager »

Hello everyone,
was wondering if anyone knew anything about these dog barkers, in Nite Lite catalog...
I've had animal control, over my house quite a bit last year, dogs are now 1 year old and my neighbor has complained quite a bit. sad thing is my dogs rarely bark, thats the truth! they claim they don't like the deep tone on the hounds. so they are trying to get the neighborhood to sign a petition, so i thought of getting these barking breakers to place in the back yard...they are suppose to be a high pitched sound only for dogs to hear??? any good?
Any info would be helpful
Thx

Yeager,
I've tried alot of those things and all seemed to be a joke. The only one I'd buy now is the tri tronic bark limiter $99.99. Worth the money and the best I've found. If you put the longer prongs on it (which it will come with) you don't have to put it on so tight. This will decrease the chance of getting soar's on your dogs necks. Good luck, hope this helps.

Yea, I agree with Shorty. All the ones that I've tried may work for a short time but after awhile the dogs get used to it. There's one out now that you can hook your water hose to it and when the dog barks it activates the water and they get a good dousing. Haven't tried it yet, probably won't work to good in the winter time.

I totally agree with shorty best on the market is the tri tronics bark breaker batteries last forever also. Dont you wish people would keep there nose in there own backyard Im sure you dont call the authorities when someone parties to late or mows there lawn to early. Try living next door to the county attorney it really sucks so i invested in tri tronics no more complaints

I have had good success with the Dogtra No Bark Collars, they have a setting between 1 and 7, but I have found that a 3 works well on my hounds. I have never tried the tri-tronic collars, but guess that they work the same way. The Tri-tronic name speaks for itself and I do,have a trash-breaker that works very well. You can check out both of these collars on line at www.collarclinic.com, their prices are very good for this type of equipment.

Been using the sportdog 10r since they came out. One heck of a collar. Rechargeable when needed. Yet batteries will last 3 months between charge with average use. Under heavy use they still last me about a month. Smart technology that raises the level till they shut up. Then if they bark again it starts at that level. Can change that as well as it has 3 modes. . Also about $90, but no battery cost.

Here is a link to the site info. http://www.sportdog.com/Gear/E-Collars/All-Purpose/NoBark-10R.aspx

I got the same problems with a neighbor. She can hear a chipmunk fart in my yard. yet never hears any of the dogs barking around the area that get my dogs barking back. It's gotten so bad you can rarely pull in my yard and hear a peep out of the kennel. So much for a watch dog!!!!!

I have to say go with the collars if you can. But I used a Barker Breaker for quite a few years, people can hear it to if it is the actual "Barker Breaker'. In order for it to work the dogs have to associate it with something unpleasent such as being shocked or squirted with water or at the very least yelled at (all these things have to go on while you are activating the Barker Breaker until they associate the noise with no good)). Once they associate that awful squealing squeak with getting in trouble they will go into their houses when it goes off. I always liked it because the dogs that didn't bark would go hide too and it seemed to help enforce the idea in the barkers.

We have one of these but not the one from night lite and they only work some of the times. We usually put the tritronics on them then there not behaving. We have the $99 tritronics barklimiter but they tweak out and shock the dogs sometimes when there not even barking. We also have the $35 ones from petsmart and they work the best if we have to use them. Luckly keeping the hounds in the kennel keeps them quiet well unless the pesky neighborhood squirells come and torment the dogs.

I have tried a couple of differrant bark controllers. The tritronics bark limiter worked well the only problem I had was sometimes it will shock the dogs when they do not bark. I saw a guy that had the sprinkler set up that is sold in lion country and he said it worked well and from the two days I was at his house I was impressed though it will not work for me during the winter. Recently I purchased the pet safe bird house it worked great for about a week and then the dogs either got used to it or it quit working.
