Camcorders: Standard or High Definetion?

Post by BuckNAze »

I know some people dont use them but I like the fact that I can cherish my hunts and share them with my kids (when I have them) and the fact that I can relive everything that happened. I want to know everyones opinion on camcorders and which ones they think are best. Right now I have an older Sony, works fine and does the trick I suppose. But I want to get a HD Camera with a decent optical zoom. Now the HD is actually necessary I suppose as long as the Standard Def Camera have a nice picture. Also like to get upclose shots of the animals. Anyones opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You dont get the high powered zoom on the newer HD cams like you do on the older ones like you have...
However image stability and picture quality is better ten fold and they are much smaller and lighter.
If you need that old school 120x zoom etc, well keep what you have otherwards upgrade.

Thanks for the info! I think Ill just try to maybe get an Standard Def one with a Harddrive. Might get an HD one but the optical zoom just isnt there. Some have alright digital zoom but thats definetly not what I want.

If size is not a real issue go to the cannon xha1s it is a excellent camera i have it and the regular xl2 standard def. The picture quality and zoom capability is second to none. The only draw back is the size and cost. I do African safari and video marketing, there is a big difference. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks
