hello form Ct. I am new to hounds

Post by homestead »

I had an opportunity to hunt bear with hounds and I am hooked! I am thinking of getting into it more, maybe find some hounds of my own. Any other New England folks on here?

Homestead: Originally from Shelton Conn . Where are you from . While not legal I have seen 3 bears in the SHARON area over the years . Planning to relocate to northern Maine if I ever get this house sold. PM me if you need any advice on hounds or places to bear hunt up there. Lots of good people up there but also a few to stay away from :agmnt

Welcome Homestead
My mom still lives in Bridgewater. Whereabouts are you?
There's a couple of UKC coonhound events in CT coming up in the next few weeks--New Preston 10/31 and 11/14; and 11/7 in Torrington. Might be places to meet a few hunters and see a few local hounds.
These days I live in the Catskills and my redbones chase bears during our short "training" season. I'm always glad to have an able-bodied extra dog handler along. All you need is an out-of-state big game license...

CT, New Milford; Western Connecticut Treehound Assn From New Milford Rte. 202, go north approx. 6 mi. to New Preston Fire House. Poor boy. Contact Richard Lathrop (203) 775-9100 or (203) 948-9317
