price scale on dogs

Some pretty good stuff posted hear so far. Like said though the percieved value of the dog to the buyer is what it is worth. Training takes a lot of time to get a dog doing what you want. We have all seen dogs that were supposed to be trained finished dogs in one guys eyes. That were little more than started to most. Have had guys tell me how their dogs handle like house dogs. Then tell me how they could not do that when they watch me dump the box on getting home to kennel up, or reverse pop the kennel doors to load them up. Training a dog takes a lot of time. Some dogs more than others. I would guess the bulk of guys out there don't have the time to get a dog on enough game. Working 5 or 6 days a week jsut does not give you much time to do so. I would have to say that a guy that hunts hard 4 or more days a week that puts a $3000 price tag on a dog is more accurate than a guy that can only hunt 2 days a week if lucky. Even if you live close to a lot of game like I do. It still costs a lot to train a dog over time. So there can be some percieved value just from the training costs.

One last thing to think about. There are a lot of bird dogs out there that are going for more than $10,000!!
