“Who-is-the-best-lion-hunter?”

Post by Aparcio Herrera »

“Who-is-the-best-lion-hunter?” what an interesting question. What are we really asking? What do we really want to know? Are we asking who killed the most lions or are we asking who caught the most lions? Are we ascertaining, the skill of the hunter and his dogs like Olympic figure skating judges? Are we pondering what lion hunter caught the eye of a writer and got the most press in books or newspaper stories or are we just wondering who caught a lion for someone famous?

Hmm, maybe, or maybe not -- should the question be “Who gave up the most to catch lions”. Who has lost their homes and property or have never had a home or property to catch lions? Who has lost those material things that society holds so important to being a contributing individual to catch lions? Who is the most fanatically obsessed individual with single minded thinking absolutely focused on nothing other then catching lions? Who has lost touch with reality and their place in the universe to catch lions?

Does this describe the best lion hunter? Maybe… Or is it the person who has been able to catch lions and raise a family. Catch lions and lived a good honest life having provided for the future and present of those people most important to him. Catching lions and still be a contributing individual to society. Then maybe just maybe you’ll know who the best lion hunter is.

Don't pay any attention to ol' 06 cause it looks like he's had too many to drink tonight! Somebody mentioned awhile back that they weren't gonna read any more of these "who or what is the best" posts anymore, and I thought that was a pretty good idea............

ike

Aparcio,

You bring up some great questions and maybe we will never know.

Good to see you on the forum. For those that don't know you I will say Mr. Herrera is a longtime lion and bear hunter that can flat get it done. He knows every rock and crevice in his country and he will get on his horse and roll those rocks and make it hard on Oso or El Gato.

Cheers!

Very well put Sir!

You use the word "Tenacity" I think that this is the one trait that will be found in all GREAT Hunters no matter the quarry, location,or period hunted!
