I have only a few recommendations, one you wont know if your bitch dog will run one till you try, second if she runs bear, hog, coon ect. your gonna be busy on those tracks cause if she's 2 and been hunted alot she will be tough to break from all those other things and go straight cat dog, 3rd sell all your current dogs find the nearest cat hunter you can find ( there will be one some where within driving distance i'll bet) make friends spend your 1st year with your mouth shut your eye's and ears open to what he does, says and thinks. If your still in it after your 1st year he might give or sell you a pup allow you to bring it with his dogs tolerate it running trash and get you started the right way and you will know if you wanna still hunt cats or give him the dog back.

I am not being rude just telling you what i wish someone would have told me :beer
I know your young and full of fire but cat hunters real cat hunters ( i dont count myself amoung them either) are as rare as real cat hounds, it's long nights tuff tracks and you cant run for an hour or two every other saturday night and cut it. If you do decide to try it, post some pics. God Bless and "good luck"

Mackenzie, your best bet is to do like Waylon said and find an experienced cat hunter to go along with. That might not be as easy as it sounds depending on where you live.If your gong to try to hunt those dogs yourself your better off hunting 1 or 2 at a time and preferably with an older cat dog .Not everybody can aford 1000+ for an older pup trainer. And I wouldnt buy one with out hunting with it buy itself first. So if option 1 and 2 arent possible try working it with some bobcat scent on a rag or a cat hide get the dog to like it. If she likes it and she knows shes not going to get in trouble for messing with it and she is as good a bear and coon dog as you say she will run one.If you can get her in snow that would be a big advantage to getting her started . Use every opportunity you get (create some) drive around in the snow or just at night looking for off game to work on them for trash. I have seen some excellent cat bear and coon combo dogs but you will get a lot of debate on here about letting them run more than just cat. To be cat dogs they need to be on as many cat as possible.Depending on where you live, how much time you have to hunt etc. would factor in to if you let them run other game. They also have to be cat bred dogs .There are cat bred dogs whith in those lines you mentioned but not all are cat dogs. You wont know what you have untill you hunt them.Dont be afraid to start from scatch if your not catching cat.Unless your just lucky you will probable have to in order to make cat dogs. Good luck and God Bless back at you. Larry

Hello im not much for advice but to answer your question on the Cameron hounds. I hunted next to a few of them for lions in Colorado and i must say they are same fine cat hounds. I crossed my best bitch walker with one just waiting for them to be born now. but about the only advice i can give you on training your pups is get um on as many cat tracks as you can and try to make every thing in there lives cats.... not much but there's my 2 cents worth

I'm big into cat hunting but I have done it a few times. I also know alot of big cat hunters. One thing I have noticed is almost all coon hounds that hate cats will run bobcats. One of the guys I know who has very good Smokey River Bred blueticks trains his dogs on house cats, and he has some great cat dogs. So if I were you I would see if your old dog would take a track before i worked any pups in, and in my opinion I would just work one pup for right now.
