Try your best strike dog and the loosest mouth broke hound.

Drive no faster than 10mph to begin with.

Keep trying the different Hounds, some will some won't. we never know which Hounds will Rig until we start trying them. If you have a Hound who has been striking out of the
Box put him up first!

You are up where there is plenty of Snow, drive till you see a track then, if it is fresh drive slowly past it then back up and put them down. A few times doing this and you should have one start to try to Rig!

Just our thoughts!

OK how about worm weather coon hunting. I just think that one of my walkers will rig cause once in awhile we will let a coon go and wait around half hour or so and walk the dogs up to the track from the side and the one walker will get wind of that sucker 50 plus yards away and start bawling wantin to go. I was thinking about building an outfit and trying it out by placing a caged coon off the road 50 yards or so up wind and diving past and seeing if she'll strike it but i dont know if that will work or even the right idea

I would give it a try you have nothing to lose. Just make sure she can't see it.

I have owned and hunted with other coondogs that would, without any training for it, rig coon from the box. I also hunted with a man who rode a 4-wheeler with a dog on the back. The dog struck many coon in this fashion.

I have no doubt that you could easily train a dog to do it.

whatever you can do to help is good but my expierence has been with the young ones they start striking at 4 months and up. usually deer and coyotes, red hot stuff on thier own and later the more they have been exposed to something that is what they will strike. some just dont ever strike. but keep putting them up there and sometimes one that you dont have hope for will suprise you. getting them with a dog that strikes can also trigger something 4 u. good luck.
