Good day of huntin.

Post by pat_kemp »

Went out the 23rd just havent had time to post the pics. Got a phone call from a friend that told me they have been having a lion getting in there livestock and causing prolems for them, i told him id bring ma dogs out in the morning to see if we could get rid of the proble.

Well went up and right after daylight we walked up this draw about 200 yards and cut the Big female track. Turned the dogs loose they trailed her down the hill aways and then all the sudden make a mad circle right towards us sat there and watched the lion run bout 50 yards away from us and up the hill. Dogs treed her within another five minutes.

Didnt want to kill a female but since it was causin problems and was a old old cat i told my buddy he could take it. All her teeth were just about all worn off. she measured just under eight foot and guessed her weight at about 150 pounds.

Since the day was still young and had a good fresh snow we took off to try and find another went over a couple ridges and bam cut another. Overnight tom track. Dumped the dogs and the race was on again about an hour later they treed him a young tom.

Sounds like you sure had a lot of fun that day. Yeah it is too bad you had to shoot that female but I understand if they are harassing the livestock they will usually never stop. No teeth left in that old girl, they were wore off. Dogs probably loved a day like that.

Thats awesome! I did the exact same thing last year. Treed an old female not an hour out of the truck then went right back out and treed a good mature tom. All this done before 2 o'clock. Congratulations, hope you get more put up this season.
