PA Bobcat Permit
Hey Guys. My name is Dave. I am from VT but my family has a deer camp in NE PA. We run bears here in the summer and are currently trying to train a couple of pups on Cats until bear season comes around. We hunt in the SGL 219 which seems to have a fair # of cats. If anyone has a permit and would like someone to run with and a place to stay, and maybe willing to give a few training tips let me know.

Re: PA Bobcat Permit
Derek, We looked around last season and found several cats in or gamelands. Like you said conditions can be tough but we dont have many cats here in VT. If you think that making a drive to our area is reasonable my dad and I would love to get down there and give the cats a go. Like I said, our dogs aren't finished cat dogs by any means but if we cant find a cat here to run very often they never will be. Our camp is in Little Meadows about 20 minutes from Vestal NY. If you think you might want to hook up and try to fill that tag let me know, and good luck with your season either way.
Thanks,
Dave
Thanks,
Dave

Dave , have you seen any sign of hogs around those gamelands?, they killed a few there last year (08)? I'm just over the hill from there, always wanted to go take a look, but don't get over there too often...John

Derek. A weekend would be no problem, in fact it is probably all we could pull off. We have no real set date to come on, weather would be big factor. Wouldn't want to come with bad snow but I know there are more cats there so it may not be as hard to find new tracks as it is here. How far of a drive would our area be for you? Why don't you try to see when the weather looks decent and if it would work for you and let me know. Work is fairly slow for us so if you give us some good news I'm sure we can work it out.
Rem700. Last year(09) I didn't spend much time in the gamelands, we hunted some private land. In 08 we did see some hog sign, in fact my father saw a sow and a piglet in the spring. The Fish and Game dept. had a huge live trap near a corn field on the owego NY end of the SGL but to my knowledge they didn't catch any. I would assume there are still some there but I don't know how many. Some guys said they found wallows but I don't know where. We mostly turkey the SGL, and deer hunt private(too many hunters over there for deer).
