Re: Bill Green's breeding advisor
Trueblue that one sure enough looks like it could have some GGS blood in it. It is the closest resemblence in an american hound that I have seen so far. How is it bred?
Bow thanks for hanging in there on those uploads! That is some very nice stuff you are sharing. I especially liked the article on the origins of the Green hound. I noticed they said "French hound", and did not specify color or breed. By looking at the pic that is with the article, they are some kind of black white "french hound" with tan trim. I bet that back then there was not many people who knew the difference between a Grand Gascon Saintongeois and a Grand Bleu de Gascon. From Texas huh? I had heard of some white french hounds in Texas but can't track them down. Texas is pretty close to Louisianna and Louisianna is where a lot of french settlers came in to this country.
Steve, you suprised me with the Rex Moyle pics. Looks like he liked a Green hound also. By the looks of 4 out of 7 pups, that black and white with tan trim is pretty dominant. I wonder who the sire was?
Bill sure liked those black and white with tan trim hounds though. He sure owned a bunch of them over the years.

When research is done on "French hounds" that match the description, there are ony really 2 possibilities, PGS or GGS...and judging by their size, GGS is the only realistic solution...not to mention the countless pics being posted that are 100% matches in looks of a GGS...
The foxhound possibility is out too because they are tri-color....and, while a GGS has 3 colors, they are a blk and white with tan trim, like LT said....hmmmm, seems to be closing in doesn't it?

Re: Bill Green's breeding advisor
Liontracker, that dog was a registered bluetick out of coondogs down in Missouri. Not only his color but his build as well (26 inches at the shoulder at 10 months) make me wonder if he could have had some GGS blood somewhere way back in his bloodline that shows up every once in a while ?

Re: Bill Green's breeding advisor
Goose Creek Tack was about the Very Best Bluetick "Coonhound" Ever .. How he ever Fliped his Belly (Ruptured Himself is how it was stated) with his conformation I'l never know !! He died before he Could really Make his mark in the Bluetick Breed.. He was a super Fast and Very Accrate Hound .. I believe he had a very Good nose and Brains to use it ...
