I've got three in my yard. A lot of guys run Walkers or Walker crosses around here. There are so many around here I'd have a hard time adding them up. Maybe 75-100 of them within 30-40 miles of my house, plus all the other breeds.

I get the feeling some of you are talking about treeing walkers and others about running walkers. If any of you come back, could you clearify that for me?
thx

i run running walkers. i hunted treeing walkers for years and have nothing against them other than speed and stamina. we have big woods and our winters usually bring waist deep snow, the tree dogs did not stay up on the game and tired quick in the deep snow. the running dogs have the stamina to go all day and turn around and do it again the next. just my opinion

I have treeing walkers for coon and a running walker for coyote . Running dog built entirely different then tree dogs . They were bred for different purposes .

i was talking about running walkers and just was wondering who all hunts with them and what they thought i have no problem with them i like the speed and how they can hold a track through deer yards and not make a mistake.

Well your slowly working your way up to a good dog. Once you reach to a black and tan then you know you are at the top of the pyramid. Keep tring you will get their one day! lol!

I just started a topic on the hog hunting thread. Maybe I should have just put it on here. Does anyone hunt or know of a strain of Walkers that are being used for hogs?

Here in NC we got about 15 walkers ourselves probobly thousands in the albemarle area but we deer hunt with them. i too love every thing about them and deer hunting with them makes it even better. coyote hunting with them hasnt really caught on around here but i hope it will because when our deer dogs get after a yote its almost if not as fun as killing a deer.

ive got a question for yall coyote hunters do you shoot the yotes over the dogs or do you let them catch it because in NC the only way to kill foxes is catching them with hounds (everyone uses walkers) but with hunting deer of course you shoot the deer. i was just wandering if yall do the yotes the same way we do foxes or the way we do deer.

And to answer the last guys question around here all the bear hunters use the same dogs on hogs as they use for bear so that includes plotts, black and tan/bluetick coon hounds, and walkers. i dont bear hunt but some of my friends do and they have plenty of walkers that will run a bear or a hog.

We try to get out ahead of the dog's to shoot the yote , but sometimes the dog's will catch them if the snows deep enough .
