Bobcat training season

Post by Budd Denny »

What states have a training season for bobcat? Here in Minnesota we get just over a month to legally train our bobcat hounds . We have a coon training season as well as rabbit training season, why not a bobcat training season? Also in our regulations the words "to pursue is to take" that can't be rite otherwise all coonhunters, bird hunters, rabbit hunters are breaking the law training there hounds during the training season .

we don't have a training season in utah. and younger guys have to take a trapping class and buy a furbearers lisence and bobcat tag to be legal to even chase a bobcat. Sure wish they would change something so guys who run dogs or call predators could get a tag without all the extra hastle.

We have a pursuit/training season in Oregon. It runs from September through November, harvest season runs from December through February.

We have a training season in Michigan, July 1st till I think April 1st. They changed the dates this last season along with or bear hunting for bait and hound hunting so I would have to check to be a 100%.

And any wife should be able to support her man and a pack of hounds.

Yep, I run coyote year round but I feel as though we should also be able to have a bobcat training season, we shouldn't have to lie about what we are doing, I don't feel as though there is anything wrong with enjoying listening to my hounds run as long as nothing is getting killed or injured. Next thing you know the DNR will be putting a season on yotes so they will feel as though they have control.

Here in MO I guess we are pretty fortunate. Our kill season runs from Nov.15 to the end of Jan. but we can run our cats year round .

You would think, running a dog is running a dog, doesn't matter what they are running, it is the same, from the way I see it a cat hound and coon hound have the same process run and tree, In TN you can run your dog year round on coon and season is from NOV -Feb.

Arizona doesn't have a training season but you can take Bobcats from Mid-August through the end of March.
