I know that lion season is almost over but we are getting some good snow now. I was wondering if there was anyone around that would let me tag along with them on a hunt or two. I am new to dogs and would like to go with a few people to see what would work for me and what doesn't work for me. I am not looking to hunt just be there and watch some one's dogs work so i can get a better feel. I am close to centeral wyoming and wouldn't mind driving as long as I had a little notice. If it matters on dogs and styles I have two walkers.

Re: wanting to tag along
I don't want to bring my dog. Just me and see how you handle your dogs.

Do you happen to know any Ranchers in you're area that might let you hunt on there place? I spoke to the Game warden there in Kaycee a few years back and he said most of them will allow you to lion hunt on there place, especialy if they own sheep.

Re: wanting to tag along
yea I know a few that will let me on to run cats. some are good areas and some a little tougher. the only problem over here is that no matter the cat if you have a chance shoot it. they will not let you come back if you let a cat go.
Re: wanting to tag along
I have to agree with that. I was in Shoshoni a couple of years ago dry grounding some cats and when we told the landlord that we had not found a good tom to shoot he was mad at us for not killing the others, he did not care if we "poached" them. We did not do that but I have never felt that disrepected in my life. At least not towards a rancher, but I understand where they are coming from. Needless to say the rancher liked us so we got to hunt there more often.
As for me I only have one dog right now that I am trying to get ride of. So I feel that I would misrepresent what you are looking for at this time. If you want to come and hunt with me your more than welcome. Goodluck

razzorb,
Why do you want to get rid of your dog? what kind of dog and how old?

Re: wanting to tag along
He is a three year old, and the reason I want to get rid of him is becuase he is not what I am looking for in a dog. I want something that will hunt wider than he does. He is a medium hunter. He goes good with other dogs and stuff but I feel that he is not what I want for my future kennel. He is a nice male and if I liked that style of hunting he does than he would be staying here. He is quiet on the kennel and stuff like that, he just lacks one ingredient.
