have you had much trouble when crossing a bloodhound with a coonhound and producing silent hounds that will not tree? I have bloodhounds for SAR and mantrailing they are silent on track but are tracked from 100 ft leads. My male has tracked a 30hrs old track and scent discriminted the perp from a line up. Probably the easily and smartest hound I have ever work with. I have just never considered crossing him with on of my walkers..
Any thoughts.

Hounds that are slient
Re: Hounds that are slient
there is definatley a high risk of duds or culls as you might say. i own a bloodhound who trails and trees really nice. howevermost do not and it is easilly passed on in there offspring. i bred my hutch dog to to a grade blue bitch last spring. all five pups the owner kept and loves so far. claims all to trail ond tree. these pups were i fifty fifty blood hound/ coon hound. i also purchased two majestics last summer, both bnt females. there sire was a bluetick 7/8 cameron 1/8 hurricane. the bitch was a pup out of saltlicks tree chopper and bad penny. these pups are now almost nine months, one of them turned out really nice she is trailng and treeing hard she is full of drive and speed. her sister on the other hand has no drive. she loves to trail but slower than i walk nor would she chase a deer if you droped her in the middle of the heard.
never doubt the dogs
