looking for radios that reach out that will not burn up the astro.

We use Motorola SP50 VHF 10 Channels, they reach out real well and are clear. As a precaution, dont use within 15 feet of your astro if the astro is turned on. Find them on ebay

Icom 2200, had three power setting, keep it on low, you will be fine its only five watts

garmin side any high powered radios over 5 watts can damange the astro any under 5 watts will work however any vhf marine radio can damage the astro.
