IT'S THE KEYBOARD WORSE THEN DRUGS OR LIQUOR
Re: Old vs New
I think we need to come up with a competition hunt for bear and lion hounds. Have a series of hunts in each western state and then bring the winners together for a championship hunt. I would pay to see some of the blowhards on here have to perform in front of a gallery of their peers with all results documented, confirmed, and then posted for all the world to see. We would then be able to write a book with all of the novel excuses why some folks just could'nt make the hunt.
when in doubt turn em out

Now there is an idea. I think you are late on the book of excuses, seems like there is several versions out there now.papa wrote:I think we need to come up with a competition hunt for bear and lion hounds. Dont leave out the midwest and east, there is plenty of hot air, and wonder dogs here also. I would love to sit back, and watch some of these guys, talking smack, and have to put their dogs in front of people, it would be just like the visa commercial, priceless.

Ike,It was summer and the track wasn't any good, and I knew that cause neither of my five year old hounds were saying a word, although those two old redbones were going steady.
Just a couple of questions for you. You obviously think of your self as a good houndsman, So why is it that you have only two great redbones and not a kennel full? Is this because there might be a chance that you found two diamonds in the rough and the dogs are making you a houndsman not you making the hounds?

Ike I'm sure your story was true, impressed the man on that day, we all know rig dogs are priceless, and there is many variables. I never hunted with allen, leonard, but they seem to set the mark, that everone is trying to compare themselves to. They dont have to prove themselves they got the respect. Along with their dogs or line of dogs. I've had a little experience with this myself. Instead of trying to topple every respected man, why dont we sit back, and if we arent careful, we might learn something. I want to thank mike leonard for sharing his wisdom on this site, he doesnt have to share anything, he has proven himself, if you know more then me, please teach me,then I dont have to work so hard. Thanks mike and the handful of others, that share, some true wisdom, from years of experience, for us to become better houndsmen, and hunters. And when I need a line of good dogs to cross into, I know the guys I will be buying from. LOL

Even the few of them that were listed and ARE on here, you don't hear them bragging about anything.
I know Mike Leonard personally, but I don't know Ike, so I won't express an opinion here about who's got what to prove... I will however say, load 'em up and go hunt, the only person you have to prove anything to is yourself and your dogs. All this, "my dog can beat up your dog" bullshit is ridiculous. Ike, if your dogs can rig lions that's great! I would have to see it to believe it, just like anyone else... and I doubt I'll ever see it because i've got too much of my own shit to deal with...
Now, back to hunting.
