MI Bear Hunt

I hunted the Western End of the UP. The first part of Oct. Rain shut us down for 4 days. But it sure was better then being at work. We harvested a @ 200 lbs bear the first day of hunting. I passed on a slightly smaller one. We also harvested a @ 300 lbs. It was great fun, and I'm looking forward to next year.

This is the bear I passed on.

I started bear hunting there @ 1999. Before that, I was deer hunting and trapping there. Bergland & Amasa zones for bear. Big country and no people.

some bears from my neck of the woods. Which unit were you hunting in? I spend most of my training season between waters meet and troutcreek.

I hunted the up for 13 years. I lived and worked there. i now have moved to Southern Indiana.

Looks like some thick country...I've only been in the Appalachians and Blue Ridge of VA, GA, and the Carolinas.

What is the topography like up there?

knowJesus, compared to the areas you are talking about, that area is as flat as water. There are a few hills in certain parts, and some steep river banks at times. Nothing like your mountains.
