I took the dogs out on one of the harvest objective units Saturday since it was the last day of lion season, and because I'd saved my lion tag for the best day of the season. But as luck would have it, all the snow fell to the south and those hounds nor I ever found or struck a lion track that I could put my finger on. They did, however, open pretty well on an old bear track and I got out to look for it. The heel print was huge, but didn't have much if any detail in it, so I put 'Choco and Kody out to see if they could move it......
They went right down on the track and began to inch it along like an old lion track, and began to open, first one then the other. I jumped in behind them and follow a hundred yards or so then called them off the track, as it was old and headed into private ground. Lion season opens back up in a couple days and life is good........
Oh, I also found where a sow and cub had crossed the road in a skiff of snow.......gotta love it!
