Mr. Pacojack trashin with the sanpete hillbillies

Post by poser »

Well this is a long story with nothing at the end but some humble pie. It might entertain ya.

Friday 06:50am im on my way to my dayshift job. My boss, poco calls me with a lion track. I turn around and grab some dogs and meet him up the canyon. I head to work and he goes huntin. Poco gets to the track and notices he doesn't have any dogs in the box....what the whoha....the door is ripped off the box and here comes the dogs up the road to him. The dogs hit the track and trail out.

I get a few update calls from time to time but nothin in a tree. 10:45am I get a call to get a few of the boys and head over to see whats goin on. 11:30am Poco has gathered the dogs and we go to see what happened. I take jess out and head up the hill in my work clothes. The track is melted out and we start working it out. Poco kicks out lacey and jasper to help. We end up workin over top to some ledges and a bunch of mud. Loop around and go through the bottom cut an older track along the creek. Gather up the dogs and walk out the bottom and load them up. 04:30 head to my night job. A little over 16 miles for the dogs today.

Talk to Pacojack, he is commin to get his pup saturday morning. Tell him if he wants to run a cat to throw some dogs in and well see what we can do.

Saturday 06:00am get off work. Get home start getting things ready. Gather the crew and meet up with Paco. Can't find where the lion crossed out from the day before but Poco cut one down south. Were off like a heard of turtles........lol.

Heading to the track we loose another dog box off the fourwheeler...with 5 dogs in it LOL. "The usual crap" Throw the box into the oak and head up the mountain. Dump 15 dogs or so on the track, and were off. About 500 yard and were in the mud again.......

I head around to see if i can cut the track again. I cut one and call the dogs over. Wish i would have known this was not the same track we had dumped on. Well long story short, haha, we trail east into the big mountains all day, get in a snow storm . Around 01:30 Poco hikes into me and the dogs. We decide to pull the dogs and head for home. Paco, Rockcreek and Elliot get the wheelers loaded and head around to pick us up in Canal.

As were comin out we hit the fresh track and the dogs start to work and open. We call them off and keep movin to the bottom. 04:30 I get a call from my carpool wondering if im goin to work? How fast a day goes when your havin fun!!! Dogs went 9 miles today.

Get to the bottom and were out 2 dogs. One of Paco's and one of Rockcreek's. Rockcreek runs me home to go to work and the fellas try to get dogs. Not sure what happened but i do know a hardheaded Paco slept in his truck that night waitin for his dog.

I get home sunday morning beat. I go to sleep and call Paco when i get up at 11:30am. Paco and Poco have been out since 06:30am lookin for the dogs. They lost a belt on the fourwheeler and are towing it down the canyon. I get the truck and trailer and go pick them up. I drop them off to get something to eat and go put dogs up and get some chores done.

02:00pm We get a buddy with a sled to take Paco on top to see where his dog is at. I head to work and Poco heads up the canyon on his fourwheeler.

04:30 Heading to work i get a call form poco. He tells me they think the dogs is commin out. Good deal. He also tells me that while he was driving up the canyon a deer tried to jump over him and his wheeler. LOL....well the deer cleared the wheeler and hit poco, knocked him off the wheeler and into the dirt lol.....the wheeler went into a ditch and the deer kept goin. Poco said, what the hell.....you can't make that stuff up. "im still laughing about that.

0730pm Poco called me, they got paco's dog and he is headin home. Poco was cleaning the blood off of his face from getting jumped by the deer and is planning on sitting by the fire the rest of the night.

Rockcreeks dog is still on the mountain. Guess well have something to do tomorrow.

Paco, It was good to see you again. Hopefully we can have a better outting next time buddy. I guess were like drugs, next time just say NO!

That's the way it goes sometimes poser, lots of hard work and nothing in the tree to show for it. But like they say, even a slow day hunting beats a day in the office!

Dammit poser, you gotta quit that shit on the days you work. I tell ya what you looked like the sorry side of hell last night. I'm just glad I was sensible enough to stay home that day. I bet after the deer episode, Poco looks worse tonight than you did last night! Ha, that is some funny shit! I wish I could have been a little bird sitting in a tree watchin that one! That is just flat out ridiculously funny!

Ike, i agree with you. Its always better to be on the mountain. Thanks for the pics.

Frosty, you are full of crap! You sure as hell are NOT sensible....the ONLY reason you weren't right in the middle of this is because momma told you you had to watch the kid this weekend. And by the way, when do we ever have a day to hunt when we are not workin somewhere??? I wish you woulda been there. It would have been entertaining for sure buddy. Let me know when you figure out how to only work one job and put food on the table, without sellin the hounds and ponies.

Well I don't think I have the words that poser came up with. I will tell you 9:30 pm Sunday night I got a phone call, while sleeping by the fire, from Poser to tell me, to insight all that are bored enough to read this, on the crazy weekend we had. Friday his story was accurate, not a hell of a lot going on that day but a lot of trailing with nothing at the end but wet pants and worn out dogs. Poser forgot to mention that when he says he is just going to see where the track goes, that really means he's off and doesn't need company from anyone other than the dogs, LOL. Friday night I ran up the mountain again on the North side of the canyon that we spent the day in looking for the exit of the cat we were supposedly chasing. I cut a track but it didn't look any fresher than the one before...I also think he forgot to mention that he yelled down the canyon for me to move his truck, but he failed to mention that the keys were in his pocket, how exactly was I supposed to do that again?

Saturday morning after cutting a fresh track headed towards a place called HELL hole, we of course dumped. The dogs were working good and wouldn't ya know that Poser managed to disappear again. Oh wait they sent me back down the canyon to grab the 3 dogs that we couldn't fit in the partially put together box we had. I don't think his discription of throwing his box into the oaks was accurate, I found the box in the middle of the trail, probably right where it had fallen. After getting back to the crew Poser had disappeared again with know way for us to really know where he was other than I had a real good reading on the dogs. I did end up finding him later that afternoon down in a hole that people really have no business being in. (other than if they are looking for dogs) The dogs were tired and pretty willing to follow us out. Unfortunately we could not find one of Paco's dogs or one of Rock Creeks. After getting Poser out of the canyon and off to work, our search for the dogs continued. Myself and Rockcreek headed back up the mountain to check roads for dogs and to grab one bike that was left up the mountain. While cruising at a quick pase up the trail topping out on a ridge we met a skunk, tail in the air and pink sphincter ready to say hello. You'll have to ask Rockcreek how that taste's. LOL there was nowhere to go....another what the hell? After a lot of miles, whistling, yelling, and listening to trackers still no dogs at midnight on Saturday.

Sunday was a day spent cruising everywhere we possibly could in hopes to get a better reading on the dog. Finally that night we had some nice young men call and say they had picked up the dog. While hustling down the snow packed canyon on my wheeler, I had managed to put my coat hood on which takes away any sight other than what is right in front of you. Anyway cruising at 25 mph looking straight ahead, before I knew what was goin on, my fourwheeler had planted into a snow bank, (grateful for that, the other side was a place of no return). I was laying on my back wondering what the hell just happened. How in the h#$% does a man driving on a 4-wheeler get knocked off of his bike by a deer playin some sick game. That damn thing is probably still celibrating with his buddies...I probably looked just like NAPOLEON DYNAMITE when his uncle knocked him off his bike with a steak. For any of you that were stupid enough to watch that movie, and for those of you who haven't seen it, don't waste your time. I still don't really know what to say about the hole experience, other than how in the hell does that happen?

GOOD TIMES, LOTS OF MILES AND BETTER DAYS TO LOOK FORWARD TOO!

I would pay lots and lots of money to see that deer take you out on the quad. I'm sorry but that is one of the funniest things i ever heard happen while hunting. I've thought i've seen everything, but that takes it all. Looking forward to hunting with you guys in Dec. My deer are friendly over here.. :D

Poco, i left out a whole lot of the story. We don't wanna let everyone know how stupid we really are buddy. Besides it would take me all night to write down everything that happened.

Tony, we might not be able to catch a cold, but we will entertain you for sure! Looking forward to hunting with you in December. If you would rather not be "entertained" we will not have any hard feelings, we'd just know that you have come to your senses. I would have loved to see poco gettin hit by a deer too. We might actually have some money sellin that video.

Paco, not sure if you know what a good time is for sure. You'd be better off getting kicked in the nutts i think then hunting with us. I can't believe you took a pup home after you seen the trash that we hunt......you must be crazier then us all put together. You seen what their momma did, she could barely stand on her own legs after huntin one day. She's a weekened warriors dog not a government hunters kind a dog. Your welcome to come and hunt with us anyday that you can buddy. I hope that you can take a day and see your family.
I'm thankful for being dumb and slow, then i don't have to over think this stuff.

I don't even know where to start. It was as much fun as you can have without actually seeing something in a tree. The Alpine Skunk was some funny stuff. I was yelling "SKUNK"... and Poco luckily heard me right before it would have been to late. We got lucky and didn't get a real spray.

Paco- It was good to finally meet you and thanks for the pup. I'll see if I can't get him ruined before he's a year old. We got the Russian thawed out and he's a game little dude. It's snowing pretty good right now and before I left work he came up to me and said "Tomorrow should be good for hunting cats"... :o

Poco- Thanks for looking for my dog all day. I too, would have paid to have seen your "deer dance". Of all the times to not be following you on a wheeler.

Poser- I seen that Jess wasn't at the farm when we dropped off the dogs. You must not have wanted her to jump her kennel, hitch hike up the canyon and go catch that cat.

Frosty- Sensible? You should have been there buddy. Next time call a neighbor to come babysit and get up here.

Goodtimes. Thanks again guys.

Take care.

Rockcreek, not to sound mean but i wish you guys would have gotten sprayed by the skunk. Quit bein so selfish, think about how much entertainment we could have had with that one lol.

I don't know how you think you would have seen poco getting hit by the deer, he drives way too fast for you to be close enough to see what he's doin. I bet he wasn't goin 25mph, more like 50mph. I've never seen poco go anywhere slow. Those deer were probably sick of seein him hot roddin around the canyons and put a hit out on him. Thats still funny. See rockcreek, some of us know how to take one for the team, thanks poco.

Oh, and i didn't have jess. You were gonna put my dogs up for me remember? Poco said that he just couldn't put her back with the pups. He felt too bad for her so he took her to his house and put her in the garage under the heat lamp and blanket with lacey. She didn't want to come home with me today after that treatment. It just hit me, that damn poco is tryin to seduce jess......what the whoha poco?

Still one question? How in the heck does that happen, I still can't believe that I got my ass handed to me by a deer trying to get back, if that really was the case Poser? What are the chances of that? Poser and Frosty, the only reason I drive like I do is because I learned trying to keep up with you two crazy nascar/lion hunters! I tell you what sittin here in meetings today I feel like I was hit by a line backer far beyond my level of competition. I don't think I would be moving to quickly on a wheeler today. I will say it was DAMN hard not to go looking this morning with that fresh skiff of snow! That lion is really starting to aggravate me, hopefully the dogs are taking it as personal, LOL. Good times fellas, can't wait for the next adventure....

P.S. Jess is all yours Poser I just didn't have the heart to dump her back with all of those blood sucking little pups. She was rubbed so raw she didn't even want to lay down...just looking out for the crew! I will say it took her a little longer to figure out what the heat lamp was than Lacey....

Poser- You're crazy. I'm a team player as much as the next guy, but I ain't trying to get sprayed by a damn skunk for your enjoyment. You are right about Poco... 25 mph my foot!

Poco- I hope you're alright buddy! Just be glad you didn't run into this guy... Damn video games really are ruining society! LMAO!

There is never a dull moment with you boyz is there. From equipment failure to kidney failure, skunks and deer seeking revenge. Lol. You boyz need a full time camera crew to get all the action and mishaps. Maybe Poco should get a couple of onboard cameras to capture the action of just driving a four wheeler. You guys are good times... Hope to get down there soon to enjoy some of this fun. Take Care and catch that cat would ya............DD

Poco........Just wondering if you applied some bag balm to Jess's rawness before you put her to bed under the heat lamp?? lol. You spoil her like that and she won't want to hunt. She will act like the dog out here last year when it was eight below. Remember that? Take Care.......

Desert, I wasn't applying anything of the sort, but that would of been a good idea, LOL. Sounds like maybe tomorrow will be another adventure, but Lacey is still tender footed and not real anxious to do much, Poser and Mason were asking me of I thought the B team could catch tomorrow...Maybe you should get down here so we have some fresh dogs to chase this crazy runnin cat. Look forward to seeing you and always good times. You cut anything out your way yet? I am ready for a good trip and some good eats....
