A new start

Post by horshur »

late last winter I lost my good dog...circumstance being as they were the two coming up pups did not get to hunt with him so in essence I ended up starting all over again.

The pups...littermates of a female grade dog and a Leopard Cur.... I was really spoiled with the leopard and when he ran with my female they worked well...she seemed to reign him in some. But that is the past.

This week was a culmination of two years.....we prioritized obedience with these two dogs and I thank David on the board for his advice in his chain breaking post...we tried to follow that to a T.

As well I have had a few years experience to see what I was not going to let slide this time or try again hoping for a better result.

I will only hunt one trouble maker at a time.

This is the third try on a track. The only track I would have expected to catch....she has never even seen a cat before but has treed many squirrel while walking with the kids.
To me the most important consideration is to have a reasonable expectation what is possible and then to try to set up the situation for the greatest possibility of success.

Anyway....full circle this time was alot shorter without so many detours.

After letting her yap and go on for twenty minutes I said lets go...she came to heel and we walked out...no yanking on #@% leashes.

Well done man, that is a cool video and an even cooler story! Thanks for sharing, gives guys without a broke dog around some light at the end of the tunnel

Very cool on the obedience training too....novel idea really not to have to drag a dog out of the woods!
