Nance New Year
Nance New Year
Well the Lion season has been rough this year, snow has been scarce. But managed to get out quite a bit since xmas eve. I have also been lucky enough to be having a hunting compion along my side. Twist aka Andy has allowed me to hunt with one of his Nance dogs Scoobey. Scoobey and I have been running the mountians as much as possible and had not croosed a lion track for awhile. We both were getting restless and with new years around the coprner what not a better way to start off 2010 with a lion or maybe 2. Saturday the 2nd caught a fresh track that had already crossed my track from earlier that night. My buddy had found the track so we threw his dog out first than scoobey at dawn. Hour n half later we are both looking up the tree at a 155lb tom. If one wasnt enough Scoobey and i took off again thirsty for more. we where in an area already closed to killing of any lion but happened to catch a decent sized track about an hour after dawn. With a new layer of snow from the night I knew it was a fresh track so i kicked scoobey out alone. about two hours later i catch up to scoobey treed on a nice tom. scoobey is from a great line of hunters and still going strong. I can honsestly say I had a Nance (nice) New Year and hope to continue 2010 with more lions in the tree.

Re: Nance New Year
Gotta tell everyone the story on Ryan I have only met him once but have watch him play football for Montana State Grizzlies and that he can do as a defensive end they have played in the national championship game 2 yrs in a row and came up short both times. : I know I sure dont want him chasing me as I know he would sure be able to catch me and about everyone else reading this post.
( He had a post awhile back looking for someone to loan him a dog to cat hunt with as he is unable to own one with his busy college life. So I contacted him and told him he was more than welcome to use one of my old strain Nance males and have some fun and tree cats on his break so he took me up on my offer and came and picked Scoob up(OLD NANCE STRAIN) he is 8 yrs old and I have hunted his mother, father, grand parents and great grand parents. When I meet Ryan my first thought was man I wish I was in that good of shape 210 lbs 6'5" and young not an ounce of fat on him and what a nice young man all he could talk about was hunting and sports.
If every young man was this calibur it would be awesome. Now all I need is to get him down here and hunt with me and be brush runner
I am glad I could help you out Ryan I will make sure you have a dog when you get out of college. later, Andy

Mike, I think if Ryan would just take of running after one of them cats he might just be able to outrun them old Nance dogs
