Trailed this lion for two days. Ground was frozen hard the second day and trailed by this elk. The area is infested with coyotes and wasn't even positive it was a kill so put a camera on it. Checked it a day later and was pleasantly surprised. Caught the lion the next day. Busted up my best dog, Hap. Broken windpipe and some ribs. I had him and two females--------Trix and Roxie. Lion wouldn't tree, just fought the dogs all afternoon up and down the canyon. Finally he bayed on a rock wall and we got a shot at him. We missed. He jumped and the dogs bayed him again and this time we got him.
Hap had to have surgery immediately for the broken windpipe.

Dave told me about Hap, glad to hear he is ok. Could have been alot worse i guess. Congrats on that big sucker, cool pic.

Glad you got him he is a beast and he had that look.


Hope the dog comes thru ok that windpipe deal is usually the nell of death and I reckong that elk had a crushed one as well.
