Pocahontus with Blackwater/Whitehollow
My female is due to whelp anyday now. It looks like she will have more than I have reserved. The sire is My Arrowbar Nimmer (he is a blackwater/whitehollow) and the dam is Arrowbar Sweetie (directly off of Pocahontus Gus) these pups should be at least medium nosed dogs with intelligence and plenty of prey drive.

Re: Pocahontus with Blackwater/Whitehollow
I did not expect her to go into heat for another couple of weeks and was gonna use her on some bears but I got this text message photo the other day from my son. So this cross was made again about 10 months earlier than planned but this cross has created some excellent cold nosed hounds that can pound dirt and CATCH. These dogs will sink ivory! The good news is she will be running cats hard this season and I can still use my other three to catch a few of them bears.

I would keep hunting her for at least another month. Definately till she doesn't seem to be able to make races. It will keep her in shape and make welping go smoother. Some people will also say that it helps inprint the pups.
I remember seeing some of the BHP's pictures and she would have her females out until they couldn't go. Greg Anderson also did this. I think his Cabo dog was born in bear camp. That dog became one of the best dogs Greg ever had.
Also if you let them lock only the one time she may not have taken and you let her sit for no reason.

Re: Pocahontus with Blackwater/Whitehollow
this all happened while I was at the ranch and my wife said screw it and let them continue for a few days. I have been running a few hours on lion in the mornings but only until 9:30 or so and then we call it off but their is some moisture in the ground and we can get a race going pretty fast on a good day. The problem here is bear is only open for the first part of the season for dog use in the south and that is a considerable ways for me and she may be too big by the time it opens up north but I do try to run them as long as I can.

That does changes things a little bit. I hope she has a bunch for you then. When does bear open for you? How far from Raton do you live?

about three hours if I follow the speed suggestion signs
. I actually like litters of 5-8, I try to be selective and send my pups to hunting homes that are appropriate and constantly evaluate them reguardless if this is a proven litter. I prefer to hunt zone 1, thats were I went to high school and later hunt zone 4 where I live when I want a "quick" hunt.

Any day the next generation of these dogs will hit the ground. I prefer to call them an alloy a blend of the parents creating a better blend of thier qualities.

Re: Pocahontus with Blackwater/Whitehollow
So far I have quite a few more than I planned on. I do not know the sexes of the pups yet but I will find out soon. This is a proven cross of easy to handle pups with really good noses, that are problem solving smart and plenty of prey drive/grit. Those who have done business with me know that I keep my word, so I only ask for someone word to hold a pup until a deposit is held.
