well I'm sure we would like to know where the bloodlines originally came, from how you've used it, if you've made any changes, how you breed ,what you breed for specifically and how they work, what exactly their job is how they perform for you and on their target game do you run a lot of jackals by sight or is it a team game as your selection of hounds seem to point to? Dan's a coyote guy so speed and grit are important aspects for him along with enough nose to trail on the move. remember this is a hound site so we're interested in about everything hound related.

Just wanted to know if them last two were like a houndxstaghound type cross. Yall might call em deerhound or whatever but they basically close to our staghound type dogs but without as much greyhound in em I assume.

Anyhow, if thats what they are, I want one. HAHA! Also, tell me if you have ever just taken 3 or 4 of them hound/deerhound type dogs out and hunted them by themselves. Thats what I would be wanting to do of course but that dont mean anybody else does. Also, can two of them take a jackal pretty easy. I would assume so but I dont know shit about jackals. I'd like to dump 5 or 6 of em on a dog gone Hyena. HAHAHAHA!

Hey Dan,

They are Welsh Foxhound, Scottish Deerhound , Running Walker outcrosses. One could go back to crossing a Greyhound on them for more open country.

Sometimes we pull a BS stunt on Jackal here and call them into open country and sit in hiding till these runners sight them, then we slip them on the poor Jack , oh boy , not fun for the Jackal !!Good way to get young runners trained.

Dan , when that bitch comes into season I'll be mating her to maybe an imported Australian track Greyhound to get another dimension of runner in my kennels.There some boys in Namibia in the South that have huge open spreads and farm sheep big time.They want fast killers that will ride on their pickups when they working.Jackal often bolt out in front of their vehicles and they have asked me for this type of dog.

How do you feel by bringing in the Greyhound blood ?

I personally dont care for too much blood off the track but then again I dont know much about it. I know that fragile dogs break but other than that I dont have an opinion. A track dog could bring the WOW to your dogs thats for sure cause when you see one run it makes you say, WOW! HAHA! Take care.

Dan that dog in the picture you sent choking that coyote looks very similar to our catch dogs.Just looking at it quickly it looks like it may have better speed than my type.I have gone away from the speed for a bit longer winded type runners cause of our broken and mountainous terrain.If the runner makes a pass and misses it recovers quickly and if it looses sight in brushy areas they have a bit of nose to run a hot track.That comes from the Welsh Foxhound and Walker in them.

I am in agreement with you concerning the track greyhounds - they are fragile but if you outcross them to deerhound and then to welsh foxhound you build a tougher dog with a bit more endurence.One thing about a track greyhound is they are for the most part devastating killers.A lot of times when these outcrosses hit a jackal theres just a cloud of dust and the jackal looks like its been hit by a high velocity round.

I am going to try get some video footage done on these hunts and get something together for you guys to see how we hunt here.Actually it would be nice to get someone out from the US to visit with a cameraman and do some hunting and filming at the same time.

I like that runner of yours - like you said its my type.Hell I wish it was a simple thing to get you guys out here to have some fun.

Its been a pleasure. The yella dog is half hotblood actually. His momma was a single handed coyote dog and his daddy was a hotblood who was also a single handed dog so yes he can fly, well.........he could at one time anyhow. Today he is just a beat up dog that cant hardly move no more.

Dan thats a shame about the old dog.Sad truth is we'll all get there someday then we'll know what it's like.

That's why it's important we enjoy ourselves while we can and more importantly that we introduce youngsters to our sport.

Tommorow morning I rise early, my hounds are well rested.My equipment is ready.The food baskets packed.The jackal are waiting to be chased.I am picking up a bunch of kids and taking them out to listen to the SOUND of MUSIC.
