Quad Platforms?

Post by kickemall »

Anybody got any pics they can post of rigging platforms or dog boxes on their quads? I'd like to see some to get a better idea of what to build.

Thanks

Sorry....no pics of one....

I too am planning on building a platform to mount to the front rack. It'll be a simple, easy to bolt on and remove sort of platform with a bar at the dog's chest height wrapping around the front and sloping down a bit at the sides to allow the dogs an easier time getting up on it and down from it. Mine will accomodate two dogs.

I'd like aluminum for anti corrosion properties and weight savings over steel, but I'm not set-up to weld aluminun, so steel it'll be.

I mounted an Owens two dog box from Cabelas on mine. It will hold four hounds to get out of the bush.

Nice rig cat guy!
Some good ideas here.
I'm going to get a tow behind axle and frame for my grizz 700 that I can ratchet my dog box out of my truck on. Multipurpose kinda deal.
Had a wicked 12x7 custom tandem axle welded aluminum hunting trailer made up this year that it should fit into nicely.

Trailers are a pain to haul around, they tip over in rough country and they don't do well in deep snow. I strap on one dog box on the back of each quad using ratchet straps. Each box holds two dogs. Be careful on putting too much weight on the front or back as they will make the quad too top heavy. Use tracks for deep snow and you won't have to worry about getting stuck anywhere. The country I hunt is very rough, rocky and lots of snow drifts this time of year.

CatGuy,
Any problems with all of that weight up there? The CG looks to be high.

So far there is no issues the way it is rigged up. I've stiffened the suspension to handle the weight. The tracks made it very stable.
