The utchman dogs I have seen werent much for lion dogs in the dirt, but better snow and bear dogs.

A friend of mine has a 2 yr old Buzz Anderson dog. He hunts bear and dry ground lions. He speaks very highly of the dog! And he is very critical on dogs.

I think it would be tough to do a straight up generalization of these two strains. There is so much diversity in both and every breeder takes them in their own direction. I have more experience with Utchman dogs and I think in many threads of that line you can find dogs that will fullfil your needs. My opinion with any of these types of decisions is to hunt around the parents and/or relatives of the dogs in question. One or two dogs in a line cannot define that line.

I agree cobalt. I am just gaining some surface knowledge before I decide what to do. After that I will investigate as far as I can.

I have, and have used the Buzz dogs for years. Hard goin track dogs, do just fine in the dirt. Good tree dogs, good rig dogs, not much gritt for rough bear on average.
