hi everyone i was looking for a very low profile vhf antennas something short, have any of u heard or use the maxxrad or antennax antennas any ideas thanks, also can i use a high frecquency antenna on my vhf radio i think its like 425-480hmz thanks

I picked one up at vincent communications .magnet base 18" tall around $50 bucks

As to your question about vhf antennas,any 2 meter antenna,used by the ham radio band can be tuned for the vhf marine band.My personal choice would be a short mag mount antenna. Say less than 22 inches,as any longer you run the risk of having it hit tree limbs,which will detune it.As for using an antenna designed for the 425 to 450 mhz range they are too short,but one designed as a dual band,144mhz-450 mhz will work.
