Garmin Antennas

Post by Cowboyvon »

I bought one of the folding Antennas and a rubber replacement antenna for the long range handle. The folding antenna didn't give me that much more range than the original and didn't last, it came apart where it screws together. Of course I carry it in a pouch that is on my breast collar up by my swells on my saddle it might be just fine used another way. I really didn't see any advantage with that antenna over the original. A longer rubber antenna that mounts directly to the garmin might be great.

The rubber replacement antenna for the long range handle worked good. I had already broke 2 of the telescoping antennas. I seem to get plenty of range and I don't think it can be broken. I just hook it up when I need it. I had a pup chase a deer the other day and get lost and I got a location on him at about 1 mile away so it worked great. I still have a telescoping antenna but haven't needed to use it yet....I don't want to break another one..
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Some guys have been using a diamond antennas SRH77CA and I have seen them work and the double the small rubber ant. range and they will almost match the truck ant. don't know if there is any problems, plus they say they won't mess up from your VHF radio. they are flexible and a little longer around 15 inches
