motorola 2-way radios

Post by Coonsbware »

so, a couple years ago they were coming out with the 2 mile and 5 mile radios that were 2 watts. Now I see 35 miles radios that are still 2 watts. Are they just labeling them differently or do they really get that much better range? Are they comparable to 5 watt VHF radios? I don't see how they get better range, especially 33 miles more range and still be 2 watts. What am I missing?

Your missing the airplane they used for the tests. Either that or the large rubber glove they used to pull the numbers out of their arse!!!

UHF radios like that cannot come close to performing as well as a VHF radio.

Not at all. Still all the same. Just different labeling. I would like to see those little radios get 5 miles. Could not do it with true 5 watt Motorola business radios you have to have programmed.
