"Houndn'ems blueticks" lucky catch.
Gas money! that's all I have to say about the last three days. been startin early and gettin home late with no tracks found. the last day to hunt before I had to get real seriouse about workin again. we left at midnight and drove up to my "old faithful" honey hole for cats. we took wheelers and snowmobiles and trucks and we cut and we cut and we cut! no tracks. three days prior we had dry grounded a big tom on a different unit and it got dark on us and we had to shock the dogs off and head home. we decided since it was 3:00 we had better just kick some dogs loose and get hiking. but before we did that we cut one last road to see if the big tom had come out of that canyon. bingo! he did, but the track was far from fresh. it had melted then froze and was melting again. I put my two best dogs out and they tried but couldn't get it started. I decided we better throw in the towel. I let my two pups and one other good dog out to go to the bathroom. the two pups tore down the track and didn't return. about 10 minutes later I heard them bawlin up the canyon. I g.p.s.ed "thunder" and let him roll. within minutes all three of them were trailin hard! I turned "dora the explora" in and then drove around to the next canyon. Bam! they were bayed up and fightin hard in some bluffs! We started getting ropes, flashlights, etc ready for what we thought would surely be an "all nighter". the dogs started trailing again down the mountain and right to the road where the tom treed in a big pondy! I gotta say this is the first time I've ever turned my best dogs in on a tree that my 8 month old pups caught. and drivin to the tree was awesome too! we got home at midnight, a full 24 hour lion hunt. I was draggin at work today to say the least. this kid that has been huntin with me this year is a trooper, he drove home while I slept.

Wow, what a good lookin' cat, and dogs too! You must be super happy with the pups, 8 months!?......That's awesome. How long have you been running them with your big dogs?
Gotta love a good huntin partner!

Great job! How far was it from where your pups took off to where they finally got that kitty treed?

they've made every tree since they were 3 momths old! over 20 lions under their belt and several of them were gnarly bayups. I'm tickled with them.

I think it was a little over 2 miles! at 1.6 miles on the gps I think they jumped him cuz from there they hauled a$$ in a straight line.

Congrats. Always seems that when I have my dogs figgered out as to who can do what for me. Some pup decides it's the day to grub one out. And for me... I would rather be lucky then good any day. So will take what I can get. And not hold it against them when they stand on their heads once in awhile. As long as it is only once in awhile lol.. Congrats again.
