Once a lion is run and treed, do they blow out of that country or will they stick around? Thanks

Not all of them act the same but if they have been pushed hard or jumped out again the females usually pull back to the most remote part of their home range. Toms might just quit the country have seen some collared and let go travel 35 miles as the crow flies before the sun sets the following day. that is a long ways when you take into account the canyons and mountains they have to go over.

Several years ago a lion was collared in Colorado and late the next day it was treed and killed in Utah. The Wildlife people of Utah contacted Colorado and told them about the lion and the Colorado guys said hold those guys they poached that lion in Colorado cuz we just got it collared over here. Well lucky for the hunters in Utah they had video of the lion in the tree and they too them right back to the spot where they killed it and they had to agree this lion had just changed country that fast.

Some do, some don't. Last year I treed a tom on a kill between 2 roads. In 7 days, he never crossed out, finally curiousity got the best of me, so I hiked in there and he hadn't moved 50 yards off that kill in a week, even after being treed the first time. Also treed a young tom one day and went back the next day and reran him and 15 miles later we pulled the dogs and I honestly don't think we had gained an inch on him... I try and make it a point to not run the same cat 2 days in a row....figured they got harassed enough the first time. For the most part, I think they will head to a nasty spot and hole up for a while, but I don't think most go all that far.

We radio collared this big tom Feb. 4th and he's gone less than 3 miles as the crow flies...today he was on a kill a mile from where we captured him !!!
A small female took off 2 days after we captured her and 7 weeks later she returned to within 1/2 a mile of the capture site....when we down loaded the GPS collar she had gone 70 miles southeast into Montana from the Alberta location, 3 weeks later she again left the area......then 9 weeks later she returned to the EXACT capture location and her data showed she had gone 20 miles west of Elko B.C. ..that's over 80 miles as the crow flies from where she was captured and is now living,

That's some interesting stuff. Do you guys see areas where males tend to be and other areas with females and subs? I noticed bear having sex dependent areas.
